I like the Fairmont also. When family visited everyone was like whats that building, looks fancy. Lol

The issue with the Fairmont is mostly it's street interaction with Cesar Chavez. Or completely lack thereof.

As the area around there develops there is going to be a half block wall of nothing in what easily could have been nice sidewalk cafe or retail space.

I agree. They should have taken a look at the JW Marriott and realized how much street level interaction can benefit a hotel downtown, and how much it can draw in non-guests to the hotel.

I've seen the Fairmont lit up blue, red and orange on UT Football game days. I'm not downtown as much as many of y'all. Does it stay blue most of the time?

Yes, blue most nights.

I'm becoming more and more nervous that this won't have any light feature at all...... I feel by now they should be testing lighting options on the crown. I hope I'm wrong.

I've asked on their Facebook page with no replies. I'm starting to think so, too. To be honest, a lot of our important talls are kind of meh when it comes to lighting. Some of them make sense to not be and a few I don't mind being dark, but others just scream to be lit because of their designs.

I'll hold out a little longer. It seems like not all their red lights are lit at each corner and there seems to be something around the base of the fencing. Possibly spot lighting? Maybe they are waiting till closer to when residents move in.

Recently, they have confirmed the crown will be lit through a social media post.

I would like to see LED lighting all the way up each of the vertical poles. I'm not sure how good or effective spot lighting would be shining on the mesh material.

Nothing concrete, but judging by the building's progress, I'd say they're going to start to occupy in March or early April. I know they still need some work done inside the building (i.e. finish outs and amenity levels).

I don't see any lights in the upper portion of the building so probably a while still for them.

^There is electricity up there, if that's what you mean. The aircraft warning lights are on already. They have to be now that the crane is down.

Agree. What I poorly tried to say was the upper living levels don't have visible lights on at night, while the mid to lower portion do. Probably not a good indicator of progress anyway.

It's a great indicator! They're still working their way up and it's fun to watch the progress. I can recall the moment, around July 4, when they made it to the amenity deck on 34 and it and much of the below was on while everything above was dark. Really excited for these long UC towers to deliver and for all the new homes, jobs, urbanity to replace these long dead spaces.

Still anxious about the evening lighting. Hope they don't skimp there, that would be bad. Hopefully Aspen Heights wants this building to be a legacy tower that they can remain proud of and aren't just worried about exiting the deal.
