Here, see the Millecento site beyond the Brickell Citicentre site and how it will fit into the skyline.

Speaking of cranes roosting in Miami again, these were taken of the Brickell House site just this Saturday.

Looks like the Midtown developers are going ahead with 3 Midtown (31 floors) and 6 Midtown (33 floors)

I wasn't sure that would ever happen. Good news for Midtown.

South Florida's inventory of proposed condominiums has grown to 13,315 with the addition of two new proposed projects.
A pair of developers in unrelated deals are proposing to build two new Miami Beach condo projects - the Deauville Hotel Beach Resort and the Residences At The Miami Beach Edition. Together, the projects would add more than 400 residences, according to Condo Vultures' Peter Zalewski.
With the two new proposed condo projects slated for the east side of Collins Avenue, at least 88 condo towers have been announced for the tri-county South Florida region, according to the Preconstruction Condo Projects list brokerage CVR Realty, a sister company to Condo Vultures, has compiled.

^ I wonder how tall these proposed projects will be since Miami Beach has a height restriction now.

Another condo tower on the way for the Grove:

http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/12/1...rove-bank.html

Quote:
Martins buy Coconut Grove Bank site

The bank will remain on the property but will move aside for a luxury condo tower along the Grove waterfront.

The bank’s board this week approved selling the five-acre property to Terra Group, a development firm already in the midst of transforming the nearby Grand Bay hotel into a luxury high-rise condo complex.

Terra plans a similar project at the bank site, which would include a new building for the bank on the property off Southwest 27th Avenue. The existing 1959 building for the bank would be demolished, and replaced with a new bank site closer to the street.

He said the current plan is for roughly 200 units in towers that won’t be higher than 20 stories. He said that’s well below the 700 units allowed on the site under Miami’s zoning code. Martin said there aren’t plans for ground-floor shops and restaurants attached to the towers.
Progress on their other Coconut Grove project:

Quote:
The Martins have begun clearing the Grand Bay hotel site to make way for a two-tower condo complex with 100 units. Prices range between $2 million and $6 million. The bank project will also target high-end buyers with construction on the residential complex starting in 2014.

Thanks for the cams. It's amazing at looking at the Brickell CitiCentre site how large this project is going to be and keep pushing development westward.

1000 Biscayne Blvd.| BP Gas station to be site of new tower

It appears that the BP gas station that never sold during the rise of the Biscayne wall during the boom has been sold to "1000 Biscayne Tower" development. The developers have chosen architect Zaha Hadid.

Starchitect Zaha Hadid to design first skyscraper in Western Hemisphere

World-renowned architect Zaha Hadid will be designing her first skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere, The Real Deal has learned.

Developer 1000 Biscayne Tower, which is managed by Gregg Covin and Louis Birdman, confirmed her commissioning today.

Hadid, who was born in Iraq but lives in London, recently designed a new parking garage in Miami Beach’s Collins Park neighborhood.

The planned downtown Miami tower is on the site currently occupied by a BP Station at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard across from the American Airlines Arena.

Some of Hadid’s notable projects include the BMW Central Building in Leipzig and the London Aquatics Centre for the Olympic Games.

The site is between 900 Biscayne & 10 Museum Park :

Zaha Hadid also submitted a design for the tower at 425 Park Avenue in New York City yet lost to Sir Norman Foster. Her design for 425 :

and more info from the "Curbed Miami" website":

Curbed Miami has learned via email from Gregg Covin, one of the developers of the project. The other developer is Louis Birdman. The building will fill a gap in the section of the "Biscayne Wall" of condo towers across from Museum Park. The site is currently occupied by a BP Station, which Curbed Miami had theorized months ago might soon be built upon. The tower's designs will be unveiled early next year and will be the "most iconic tower ever to be built in Miami."

The zoning height for this section of downtown is 709 ft.|216 m :

Yeah! another possible 700 footer for Miami!

You can see from the Mint cam angle how nicely it's going to fill in the skyline.

See, this is the type of "development" that I view as not worth the time.

A 1959 building is basically a historic structure for Miami, and I think there's value to preserving buildings like this in the Grove. In 1959, this was a high-quality building... much higher-quality in construction than much of what is going up in Miami now. I'd much rather see renovations and site resdesign... because it just doesn't seem to be worth it to knock this down for a 20 or lower story building without any ground-level plans. Why bother?
