The Pint looks absolutely beautiful from the outside. I can't wait to visit and I hope that it succeeds.

I just wonder if its a little to far from the SHED district to get a good walk up crowd on event nights?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. There is a little SHED cluster around the MTS Centre and the office crowd at Portage and Main... the distance is just enough to create a little dead zone in between. I think it might be tough sledding, but hopefully not. I guess SkyCity getting built would help

^ No, it's a reno of the old bookstore and restaurant... Aqua Books, I think it was called? There was a Chinese restaurant a few years back if I remember correctly. I haven't been in there yet but they sure did a bang up job on the outside. Not too many people put much of an effort into old, small commercial buildings like that.

I was going to grab a drink at The Pint before Christmas but the Garrick is across the street and has two beers for 3.55. Some guy was telling me he was a judge so I tried to buy him a drink but the bartender claimed he was "out of his mind" and couldn't serve him. Probably because he had boogers all over his face.

I thought there was a minimum $2.25 per drink charge in Manitoba?

Selling Price for Drinks
You may determine the selling price for alcoholic beverages, provided
it is not less than $2.25 per 28.4 ml (1 oz) of spirits or liqueurs, 355 ml
(12.5 oz) of beer, ciders or coolers, or 142 ml (5 oz) of wine.
NOTE: If you are serving drinks of greater quantities than those listed
above, the selling price of those drinks must be in direct proportion
to $2.25. For example, the price for a double (56.8 ml or 2 oz)
is tobe no less than $4.50.

Not really a 'restaurant' but more of a fast food joint, but Wendys on Pembina Hwy beside Pony closed down, curious of whats going to become of that.

They're small beers. The two combined probably work out to about a pint.

Their outlets seem to be quietly closing down all over the place. It was kind of surprising to see a new one actually open up not too long ago on St. Mary's. Too bad, as I consider them to be a cut above most other fast food burger joints.

Fast food wise Wendy's is my favourite. I was so mad when they closed down all the locations in NE Winnipeg. Nairn, Henderson and the one on Main St. That was back when I was in high school though. Still have to travel to Fermor to get my fix.

My understanding is that the ones that closed down a long time ago were all run by the same franchisee and he wanted out and let the leases expire.

I've asked about that Pembina Wendy's a couple times hoping you guys would know something. Was going there since I was a kid and they had the salad bars. Im close to Kenaston Wendy's though.

The one fast food place I miss in my area is Arby's!

Arby's was another one where one of the multi unit Winnipeg franchises had money problems and they closed down some stores. They are only left in one stand alone location on Regent and in two mall food courts.
