What's happening in this City?

Not that I'm complaining, but seriously. Some insanely ambitious, even on a world scale, proposals lately.

What an amazing time to be an observer.

Also, this looks like it was thought up and sketched back in the early 70's.

I do hope it goes up. Its truly unique and bizarre.

I second that opinion! I had to check that the calendar did not say April 1st! Great project, hope they build it as this is something we would also typically see built somewhere else in the world. Keep them coming if these are the type of projects to expect!

Exquisite. Best in the city in my opinion. A building that pays homage to its neighbourhood and context.

I shared it in the Canada section, I hope you don't mind Feathered Friend!

Sort of reminds me of those buildings along English Bay on Beach Avenue.

I love it, the 70s features arre really good. Definitely not a tower of glass like everyone thinks Vancouver is. Even the height doesn't bother me (too short!!) given the uniqueness.

@Rofina, I agree I would have thought this was April Fools with the latest ambitious proposals. Let's really hope they proceed

Love it love it love it, especially how it plays off the 70s aesthetic of the area.

The color palette is great too.

The inevitable view cone and shadow analysis.

I can't help but think that - compared to the adjacent Bing Thom Jetsons tower,
this one may end up as a "carbuncle" (in the words of Prince Charles).

We've already got one tower that seems ready to fall over, why not add a couple more?

Yah, all it needs is some macramé.

Neo-brutalism?

The design looks familiar, but I Googled and couldn't find anything like it.

Odd comment of the day:
Whenever I see a concrete brutalist building, I tend to think of the stench of urine.
Mayebe because those buildings have more hidden corners where guys can relieve themselves?

are you thinking of the Chicago corn cobb?

If built, it will be an instant Vancouver icon. But like the Chicago corn cobb, it might age poorly.
