Thank you MountainView and Defishel.

Not sure what to make of the location particularly on the east side.

I was at an event @ Amica a couple of weeks ago and the residents are VERY unhappy about this development (no surprise) but they do have a good point...it's a stupid spot for a tower, with all the traffic going through a tight little access lane next to a senior's residence.

Was that the only reason they opposed it?

True, though it would be nice for some building to fill that spot, though maybe not as tall as that one or one that has most/ all of its residents dependent upon a car. This building and it's podium would be better suited for a street frontage with retail at ground-level.

It's a bit late now since the zoning for both buildings was approved at the same time 10 years ago

I believe traffic from Upper West will have a very difficult time entering Richmond RD, especially at morning rush hour as it has to move up this narrow lane. Hope they don't put a traffic light here as there are already too many on Richmond RD.

Hope they build a better connection between the Upper West area and Dominion Station once the ORT is extended.

Could you imagine having a gated private road access from Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway with trees on each side of the road.

Now that would be classy!!!

Just a dream.

I plan to take a leisurely stroll to Dominion Station and/or cycle to work. When I do drive it is to leave town for cottage country. Making a right turn to head west out of town should not be an issue during morning rush hour as traffic will be heading east. If the light is red at Golden then getting onto Richmond will be even easier. I just feel sorry for the people who have to still drive to work. The only other issue is for future fellow retired residents trying to get on to Richmond. Is there such a thing as a morning rush hour for Golf and curling?

The developer's engineers said a traffic light was not warranted. City hasn't given the site plan final approval yet.

I don't see how it is different from other buildings that have parking garages that spit directly onto busy streets.

According to a 2 page article in "New Homes and Condos" magazine, construction will start in Fall.

According to a Citizen article, this project, has also broke ground recently:

"“Groundbreaking is huge for us, and it’s a major milestone for buyers because now they know their home is being built,” says Kevin Harper, highrise development manager at Minto Communities. This year, the company has broken ground for both its eight-storey Beechwood project in New Edinburgh and the glittering 25-storey UpperWest tower being built with Canderel in Westboro."

Awesome! If what they told me the summer before last is true, they won't be excavating for long before they start building up.

I haven't visited the site but they are building now. I should visit someone when it's warmer.

I never cease to be amazed how a developer can chose not to have the upper level as a common area in a location that offers wonderful views of the river and the Gatineau Hills. I understand if we were downtown but we are not.

I know of only three recent condo developments that have roof top common areas.
