Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan and of the Tashkent Province. The officially registered population of the city in 2008 was about 2.2 million. Unofficial sources estimate the actual population may be as much as 4.45 million. Tashkent - largest city of the Central Asia

^ I spent a couple of weeks in Tashkent about 5 years ago. Its a beautiful city. Say what you will about them but the Soviets knew how to build tree-lined boulevards.

Thank you for posting these photographs. I've never seen any photos before of Tashkent. It looks quite interesting. I think it's quite sad how off the radar places like Uzbekistan are when it seems like an interesting place (same could be said for Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, etc.)

Yes, that is true. Its quite a beautiful system as well. The stations have that Stalinesque grandeur (chandaliers, etc.).

GM POWERTRAIN UZBEKISTAN will produce fuel-efficient, relevant environmental standards such as Euro V engines of new generation Ecotec with a working volume of 1.2 liters (82 hp) and 1.5 liter (115 hp)

The design capacity of the company - 225 thousand engines a year. Finished products will be delivered on Automobile GM Uzbekistan (Asaka, Andijan region, which produces more than 200 thousand cars Chevrolet, implemented in Uzbekistan and CIS countries) and to other enterprises belonging to a global network of GM

bumping thread to next page

Way too many pictures for one page, so I'm taking the liberty to bump this thread to Page 2.

With too many pictures, it takes far too long for page to load, and jams up the computer (for those of us with slower systems)

Once the page did load up though, I thought the pictures were nice.

I mean well by this comment... I'm guessing that others might give up and just not view the thread at all, especially if they have similar problems as I had in loading the page

Thanks again for the preview of Tashkent!
