For discussion in regards to the booming area of Winkler-Morden which I have read has 30000 people in the area.
Edit: Or maybe the mods can change this to the "Other Manitoba cities" thread so that Brandon, Thompson, Steinbach, and all other Manitoba cities around 10,000 people can have a thread devoted to them like Alberta does.
Morden has a plan to grow to 15,000 by 2020 (which is quite ambitious), but I'm sure that's attainable in the next decade if they continue bringing in so many immigrants.

It's only a matter of years before Winkler swallows up Reinfeld and Schanzenfeld, which will add about 2,000 residents to it's urban area.
Imagine if Winkler-Morden eventually grew into each other, and merged. Imagine if the area surpassed Brandon in terms of population? That would really be something. I've never been there but I am sure it is nice. I've seen Morden on Google maps, and Lake Minnewasta.
Winkler and Morden, like many southern Manitoba towns and cities, are growing, but my impression is that there isn't all that much of interest being built in them. Just a lot of housing subdivisions and metal-sided industrial buildings. Maybe a bit of retail and institutional.
That's not a knock on those places... if anything, they deserve credit for finding ways to prosper. But they're all still small towns at heart.
More people, means more tax dollars. As long as that is managed properly, it's a win for everyone. Speaking to Winnipeg, that means preventing endless sprawl and bringing people to live downtown. These smaller rural towns are getting a cash infusions from new residents. So again, it helps everyone if it's managed properly.
I recall as a kid how small Oak Bluff was. In the 80s, it could not have had over 100 people. Now it is well over 1,000 after it nearly doubled in populations from 2011-16.
Morden plans to begin offering free internet service to it's residents later this year. Should be an interesting first for Canada and I imagine other communities will soon follow suit if successful.

lmao I have a bridge to sell these fools if they think they can provide 100/100 connections to 8500 people packed into one square mile using un-licenced 5ghz spectrum. Using ubiquiti junk to boot

If you understood the technology they intend to use you would see it indeed possible. And it's not 5ghz, it's 5G LTE, which has been specifically developed for this sort of thing. You can read a slightly better article too.

It's different than what you worked on, and it's not 5ghz. This Wikipedia article has some of the basics. Lots more information available if you do the research.

lol please do shove your foot further in your mouth. Not only do I understand the technology I can tell you the model of the radio installed on the guys house just at a glance from the video. Its a ubiquiti nanobeam which is a unlicenced 5ghz WIFI radio. Not 5G LTE. Ubiquiti dosent build LTE anything nevermind 5th gen LTE. They can't even get the bugs worked out of their wimax junk
