Not a fan of the design, but good for Guangzhou. And those construction photos look more impressive than I would've imagined. I have a feeling that this will turn out to be much more striking in real life than on the renderings.

Yes, it is Doha, and that was my first thought too.

This one is a lot taller than the one in Doha, though.

It's gonna be fun watching this one be built, just from seeing its design and that latest construction update.

I like the design, very 21st century.

I think the too short comment was a joke. I hope.

The West tower is currently being built, and the East is still waiting for approval, which would back up the 500+ theory. Longer approval = some major difference in height.

This is a very good design! It wouldn't fit in Europe or America but it's just perfect for China!
Glad for the information about the other projects in CBD too.

Latest updates for Guangzhou TV tower. It will grow up to 200M by the end of this year.
The original thread is here(in Chinese), posted by some architects of the TV tower.
They said the construction is much more difficult than the tranditional high buildings and they resoloved lots of problems never seen before

Since the SWFC in Shanghai is higher than the west tower, the east Tower must surpass it to become the highest one in the greate China area. The proposal will be submitted and approved this year and the east tower will be completed before 2012.

Btw, the height of west Tower increases to 450M now, 432M body + 18M helipoter platform.

To be honest, no one knows the real height of these twin towers. I heard that the base ground can support 530M

Not sure...Just several km far from this new TV tower, there is another temple tower existed for more than 1,000 years...It is a very strong contrast

The future of Guangzhou skyline.. Too many 200M,300M buildings and one 400M, one 600M landmarks are u/c, hope that the money and resource are enough to complete all of them.

I think the design is hideous. Way too 'busy' with all the supports showing.

i couldnt disagree more, this is... to me anyway... the most beautiful building ever designed, and probably the most fascinating thing ive ever seen under construction. I guess its the engineer in me speaking, but this is just better than anything thats ever been designed before.

It might look a little peculiar at this stage in the building process but I think it's going to be a classic structure when it's completed. It's very original, I can't think of anything that even resembles it and when the greatest height is reached all of these supports and steel tubes are going to blend together and form a very elegant shape. Obviously, I like it very much.

Thumbs up

I am aslo in the oppinion the design of her is perfect, unique in world and could fit anywhere, while it is very uncommon, resemblance with none already made and so on. I like it a lot. I hope to be a post card soon. Very cool design anyway------------------>>>> goes further
