Sweet pics! I love Vic, too. That final shot from the air--and I'm aware that's just a partial of the greater DT density--is what a small city should like. Density, diversity and parks/waterfronts within a short walking distance. It's a rare quality in North American cities, even moreso for cities of that size. It's exceedingly common in European and Brazilian small cities(and probably some other places that don't come to mind right off the top of my head).
Last time I was there, I bought two Cuban cigars before getting on the ferry back to the US(they're unavailable in the states). I enjoyed one on the ferry and kept the other as a gift for a friend who owned a cigar shop. The US authorities ended up detaining me and my ladyfriend, for several hours. They took everything out of my car, opened the hood to snoop around in the engine, started removing inside door panels, romoved the spare tire, threatened to incarcerate us....for being "smugglers"--all because I had one Cuban cigar.
I'd go back in a minute, but it wouldn't surprise me if the US gestapo tactics have impacted tourism to Victoria--which would be a shame and downright un-neighbourly. Anyway, thanks for the pics.

When a city accepts as its mandate its quality of life; when it respects the people who live in it; when it respects the environment; when it prepares for future generations, the people share responsibility for that mandate, and this shared cause is the only way to achieve that collective dream." - Jaime Lerner
