I've been really astonished at this thread, because let us acknowledge that it's pretty amazing how genuine many of those contemporary pastiches seem to be, even though they'll never be as valuable as what's been original and innovative. I'd just like to know, what is the cost of the skills to do those things properly? because I'm that kind of guy sometimes, watching the costs to determinate whether it's worth the effort or not.
The stavekirke - stave church on Washington Island is really something. I is across the road from the "real" Trinity Lutheran on Washington Island, which is a big stone gothic-light building. Beautifully situated on a grove of trees. It is Scandanavian in design, due to the large number of Icelandic immigrants.
