I remember it as Chapman Volvo and looked generally as it does now that Steele owns it. Porsche is basically a new front on a steel shed.

With Jaguar/Land Rover moving, I'm curious if Porsche or Volvo will absorb that space. The former Steele Chrysler which is now a body shop is a big lot, I feel like the body shop is just an interim use for the site.

Steele Ford, like O'Regan's GM is in need of a new location. I have heard new Ford dealerships need to be on over an acre of land.

Is Jag/Land Rover moving to the new build on the former Steele Chrysler used car lot across Livingstone St from the Steele body shop?

I wonder if Steele is less sleazy with their premium brand dealerships than they are with the mainstream ones. I would never buy a vehicle from Steele Ford/GM/Hyundai etc. I felt like I needed a shower any time I left one of those operations.

Yes that’s their new location. Similar to Audi, the prominent storefront will be on Robie with its “back” to Kempt. Different the the other Kempt focused dealerships, but Robie would have the higher daily traffic count to advertise to.

AllNS reports that the parking lot at the corner of Cogswell and Brunswick (former Trinity Church, below the Gottingen Staples) closes February 1st so excavation can start for 21-storeys residential + shorter hotel.

Sounds like they are wanting to get in before Cogswell demolition (whenever that will be). It will be a good location for a hotel once it's all done, but I suspect will be a less-than-pleasant place to stay for the next 3-4 years, with all the construction that will apparently happen.

Don't be afraid to say 'Cornwallis Street Baptist Church expansion.'

You're going to end up before a human rights tribunal.

I believe the change in name is in relation to the name Cornwallis being removed.

It's called New Horizons Baptist Church now.

Sad news. The change passed me by.
I have copy of a William MacKay survey of the an area bounded by Brunswick, Cornwallis and what is now Barrington.

Why is it sad that the church elected to change its name out of respect for its neighbours? No one forced their hand; it was entirely voluntary.

Wow... there it goes. Wonder if they will be saving the sandstone cladding for some other purpose or if it will just go into landfill.

When a possible name change first surfaced I remarked to several people that the church be named after Richard Preston.

This is Canada. We talk endlessly about how important the environment is and climate change is a critical concern for our federal government.

So... I'm guessing landfill.

I always liked it. It's a shame seeing it come down. Hopeful some of it is re-purposed.

Interesting. New Horizons is kind of vague and new-agey; naming it after a Black Nova Scotian figure might have been more interesting. I'm sure the church had its reasons, though.
