Not yet as far as I know but I suggest you sign up for Tamarack email update. I can't remember their last condo/highrise project but I know Tamarack is a very solid builder with plenty of residential projects all over town (Orleans, Kanata, Barrhaven, Findlay Creek)

What about the plans for the land behind the current building? Does anybody know if another building will be going there?

According to this article, and another one I read a while back, it's supposed to be a 13-storey building.

Site plan filed for Hintonburg condo

Ottawa West News
By Steph Willems

The condos are already on sale, but the paperwork for a new development in Hintonburg has just been filed with the city.

Tamarack Investments has submitted a site plan control for the property at 1140 Wellington St. West, adjacent to both the Rosemount Branch library and the Grace Manor care facility. The condo - marketed as Tamarack Wellington - would be six storeys tall and contain 52 units, with 563 square metres of ground-floor retail space and 58 parking spaces on two underground levels.

The site plan only concerns the first phase of the property redevelopment, which would occupy what is currently a parking lot. The building would front onto both Wellington and Rosemount.

A rezoning application submitted in September of last year laid out the land use of the site, with the area's community design plan limiting buildings fronting onto Wellington to six storeys.

The city granted the applicant the ability to build nine storeys fronting onto Parkdale Avenue and 13 storeys at the rear of the site.

Also as part of the rezoning, the Bethany Hope Centre building received a heritage designation, meaning the owner would have to maintain it as part of the development. The lawn fronting onto Wellington West would also be kept.

Wellington West's traditional mainstreet designation states that any building fronting onto the street should be four to six storeys in height, a requirement the Tamarack Wellington conforms to.

Hintonburg Community Association president Matt Whitehead said initial consultations with the applicant were "fairly positive."

"There's nothing against the CDP," said Whitehead, adding the site is larger than people realize, given that most of it is out of sight from passers-by.

The site plan control references the rehabilitation of the existing heritage building and construction of a 13-storey building in the project's second phase, though no timeline is mentioned.

The comment period for the site plan ends on May. 7, with a decision expected to be rendered by the city's planning department on June 8.

Did anyone attend the launch and/or pick up an unit?

The Citizen recently had a profile about this project. I didn't realize this is Tamarack's first solo foray into the condo world.

Pricelist is up, here's a more direct link

http://www.tamarackwellington.com/#prices

595sqft (internal) for $294,900 = $496/sqft

Condo fees are 32 cents a square foot.
Parking is $35,000 per space, with a monthly maintenance fee of $52.

(Condo fees and parking price from Ottawa Citizen article - Tamarack Wellington launch in Hintonburg marks the builder’s first solo foray into condo buildings.)

I visited the sales centre on Tuesday. They are looking to start building in October. The amenities (gym, theatre, party room, etc.) will be in the current sales centre building, the old Grace Hospital. They are looking at having a grocery store/boutique grocer on the bottom floor along with a coffee shop.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. They gave lots of good info.

Did they say which grocery store or how big (or definitely a small one like Herb&Spice)? I would like to see someone come in here and put a proper grocery store (but with very little parking) to serve the communities.
It would be just a small one. Maybe like La Bottega in Nuovo.

Also, do you live in this area? Do you like it?

Sorry, but no grocery store will survive in Ottawa without parking. Even Hartman's which heavily targets it's captive market with overpriced fare still has free parking.

Not sure about defishel, but I moved into the area a year ago, and absolutely love it here!

Yeah I mean the area, sorry. I like Hintonburg from an outsider's perspective, so I'm wondering what it's like for somebody who actually lives or is from there.

I actually spent a lot of my childhood in the Civic hospital area as well, near Reid Park. I live out in the west end but went to school near Breezehill.

I'm really considering purchasing a unit here. A bit pricier than others, and only a few layouts that I like, but it's really intriguing to me.

Was the school you went to Devonshire, on Breezehill? That's interesting that you mention Reid, because I live just by it, too (on Kinnear).
That's wild, the house (my grandparents') is actually right at the top of Kinnear, on Reid!

And the school I went to was St. Mary's, on Beech and Breezehill. Don't know if it's still called that, or if there is even a school there anymore...
