Belgrade / Београд (part 1)

Belgrade (Београд) is the capital and largest city of Serbia in Eastern Europe. The City of Belgrade has a population of 1.2 million. These two threads focus on the brutalist architecture from the socialist Yugoslavia era. All photos taken between 12 and 15 October 2017 with the Sony RX100 (I) compact camera.

1. Belgrade Fort with view on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers.

Rudo complex
The Eastern City Gate (Источна Капија Београда) is a complex of three residential towers from 1976. The concrete is crumbling, danger signs are on the central square.

Novi Beograd
The area Novi Beograd (New Belgrade) was planned and constructed into blocks, for example residential block 45. Building of this area started in 1948 and continued into the 70s.

Nice mix of historic districts with brutalist gems !

per wiki i see the bank of serbia bldg is an interesting po-mo update on that brutalist history -- its like they said ok if that is our thing then lets run with brutalism.
