There may be a Federal process but I think all of Manhattan, most of Brooklyn and Jersey city have strict bans on flying them at all.

Legality depends on the situation. If you have a permit, it varies on your location and the limitations and terms in the permit. Obviously flying right near an air port is a no-no. But people will fly them illegally anyways.

Depends on the area. Permit does not mean its illegal, but you are bound by restrictions and rules. Drone flying in NYC is very restrictive.

If you see a drone being flown in the City, call 911.

Drones are more formally known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and are illegal to fly in New York City.
If there was one city where I suspected they would be banned, this would be it do to security and hazard concerns.

Drones are illegal in the city, except for a couple of specific parks. But like everything else, people still use them. All you have to do is look at youtube.

Wow the girders for this are massive. Reminds me of some of the steel for 30 Hudson Yards.

I am pretty impressed at how quickly this one is rising. I thought it was going to at least have some concrete core support like 30 Hudson but unless I am missing it, its all steel.

There have been multiple concrete pours.

That skyline render is nowhere near accurate height wise, it's way shorter than that render shows.

Meh, the tip of the spire on the Chrysler Building is 1050'...that appears to scale roughly with the 1288' height of the roof on 1VB.

That render I believe is for the 1,500 ft version, not the 1,400 ft version. So in that case, the render is slightly smaller than it should be.

What I'm saying is that it's not much of a difference either way. So your dreams live on!

I wonder how many folks will work in this tower when fully occupied? The Old Twins had 50,000 in any given day as a reference. I wonder if this will have like 13,000 or so?

What this, and other large scale developments like HY for example will do is add a nice boost to the already crowded streets. The area around 6th/8th and 34th is already packed, and these new tenants, with their 1000's of employees will make it a giant party.

I'm the type that enjoys the crowds. The more packed, and more gridlocked the city is, AS an observer, I think its awesome. Now AS someone who drives in the city for work at times, of course not... but on my off days, let the street life chaos resume!

Kinda why I enjoy going to the city in December. People that I tell that to think I'm crazy, but I enjoy the madness of the crowds and pedestrian gridlock that occurs on the sidewalks.

NY is nothing without its street life. I don't care how many towers rise, without the packed streets and sirens every 10 minutes, the city would be stale. But thankfully, its a giant jungle full of noises and action on every corner.
