Vancouver: Farewell to Summer

Hi all, I took some pics around downtown Vancouver a couple weeks ago (Sat. Sept 26) and felt like I may as well post them here rather than have them continue to sit on my computer where no one will ever see them.

I have way too many photos of this car

Relic of a bygone era - at the side of the city's former courthouse, now the Vancouver Art Gallery

Sign on the above building

Hy's Steakhouse, a rather strange place inside and out...

Granville Street

I think he's tempted

Signs of impending fall

New infill

You can just make out the new wind turbine recently installed on the top of Grouse Mountain

Olympic Athlete's Village

On my way back downtown via SkyTrain

Always some interesting protests outside the Vancouver Art Gallery

C'est tout

Nice work as usual buddy. You got some angles in there that even I have never seen before! (eg. where the hell is that steakhouse?) I also really dug all the diverse street shots.

Great photos! Lots of great shots in there and some really nice blue sky.
I, too am perplexed about the location of Hy's! Do tell!

I love how the paranoid freaks think the vaccines are harmful, and parents think they'll give their kids autism

Pure from a selfish standpoint in the event of a apocalyptic super pandemic- I won't have to worry about a vaccine shortage keeping me from getting mine. Because those guys will just be rioting in the streets and I'll get my shot and live to rebuild civilization.

^Do you really believe in all the bullshit pandemic hype? Cause I certainly don't. Just remember that SARS, Avian flu, and West Nile Virus were all supposed to destroy human civilization as well.

It is a rather strangely overlooked place for sure, considering it is so unusual looking. It is on Hornby mid-block between Georgia and Dunsmuir (shoved between Cathedral Place and Park Place).

Granville is looking pretty family-friendly these days. I'm still trying to get used to it without the trees.

Another smashing thread, Raggedy.

Great-looking city with lots of vitality, and I love to see trolleybuses and catenary. More cities should have them!

Excellent photography.

Beautiful shots! I've lived in Vancouver for essentially all my life, and yet there are some buildings here i don't recognize!

I like that tower with the red grill artwork all over the outside and Shangri-La is adding good height to the skyline of man-made structures.
