the skyline rendering in that book is interesting. it makes the tower look taller than what the actual roof height is supposed to be.

guess we won't know for sure until it's complete.

i think it's also interesting that only 4 floors are not yet leased. i'd be willing to bet those floors will go quickly once the tower is finished, if not sooner. given the history of this site, i'm sure more than a few potential tenants are leery about signing an agreement until they see the final product.

Yeah interesting rendering in the brochure. This will definitely change the downtown skyline I'm glad to see some glass and more contemporary architecture!

Any sign of activity at the site?

You would think that if they intend to have this building finished by the targeted date, that construction should be starting any time now.

not a peep.

i walk by the site just about every work day, and it's been quiet for a couple of weeks now.

in another week, we might see new trees growing in the pit!

The project just bid this morning from what I understand. You can't very well start construction before you select which contractor you're going to hire. We should hear within the next few days at least who got the project, and the construction schedule should be a week or so further out. It will get going soon.

Very true! But I'd rather see them take their time on something which will really complement the city than see something haphazardly thrown together... I'm SO glad this project ended up being what it is, I was getting worried that we'd get a 5 story, uninspiring building there. But hey, anything would have been better than the hole!

I dream of the day when tower cranes are a common sight in our skyline...

I dream of the day when all of the currently proposed buildings on page 1 of this thread are completed...

I dream of the day when there is a constant string of newly proposed buildings in the pipeline...and being built...and not being brown...

I like to dream BIG...

update:

there's some minor activity at the site this morning. looks like they're just hauling away the last of the old steel girders for recycling.

I'm also excited to take photo's in Seattle all week Maybe some from the Space needle and the observation deck of Columbia Centre.

Should be a non-issue... I can't imagine the city fussing about awnings and open windows encroaching into the airspace above a parking garage. It could be used a ammunition by NIMBYS to try and limit the project, but has there been any opposition to this??

The good news is that the tower is reported at 17 stories!

that's great 17 floors is perfect but come on HIGH LEMITATION?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!!!! it has got to be freakin nimbys i swear if they really have them reduce the height to eighth and main ha idk what i'd do but it wouldn't be pretty. especially for the nimbys. but of course everyone wants this large city to stay small.
