It might be about 1000' since there appear to be a few columns sticking up a little from the top of the cooling tower section, but the only way 1035' could possibly be right is if the guy is giving the tip's elevation above sea level rather than height above street level.

What's more interesting is that I was telling him how excited I was that there's a thousand footer in Philly now. He told me that "there are more coming." I don't know if that's alluding to Comcast III, Amazon, or what, but he did mention Verizon looking for space expansion in Philly.

Anyway, I took a crapload of pictures today.

What an absolute beauty! Not to be a homer, but this is my favorite non-NYC/Chicago supertall. Not only does it fit in to our skyline wonderfully, but it dominates the spot where it stands, filling a large gap that previously existed. This fits into our skyline much more naturally than the ACC would have ever done, imo.

I sure hope that guy you spoke to is right! I was taking pics from the Girard Avenue Bridge and Belmont Plateau the other day, and I couldn't help but think about how balanced and extensive our skyline would look with supertalls in University City. FMC Tower looks lonely standing tall all by itself!

I think the building will look better once the spire is attached. For now it looks top heavy since it is bulky.

That must be it because it's certainly not 1035 ft from the street.

Not to get into the "like vs. dislike" war, but I'll wager that we can all agree that "graceful" does not describe this building. It's large and in charge. The spire will lighten things up, but I still think it's Center City's giant middle finger pointed at University City.

Have all 4 cooling units been installed, for some reason it looked like they put 2 in the top two slots of the tower but I may have missed the lower ones?

I think while it would've been unique, the choice of glass they settled on offers less of a "big, imposing" corporation feel than an entirely black and silver tower.

Has anyone talked about this gap on the west side lower facade. It bothers me more than it should. But it sticks out even more in person.

That's something they'll probably buff out after they do a final inspection on the building.

So happy you said something because it has been driving me nuts. I didn't want to be a Debbie Downer and identify some small gap on a 1,000+ foot under construction building. Meanwhile I'm over here saying, "FIX THE GAP!" and rocking back and forth in my desk chair.

If you'd been here earlier, East Market would've provided you with hours of "entertainment."
