THE BEATLES STORY:
- museum about the Beatles in Albert Dock

The Beatles Story is the museum about The Beatles, the most popular pop band in history, that also created the Merseybeat sound. It features the world's largest permanent exhibition about the Beatles. The museum is situated in the Albert Dock at the popular Liverpool Waterside, next to River Mersey. In Liverpool's only non free museum you find John Lennon's piano, guitars, a famous David Bowie guitar, full scale copies of the Cavern, the Casbah Club, Abbey Road Studios, Epstein's NEMS record store and other clubs, as well as rooms with themes of Sgt.Pepper, an airplane that the band travelled with to the States and the Yellow Submarine, complete with yellow interior and aquarium fishes! There is also a special room dedicated to each member. Clothes, gold records, posters, Lennon's glasses, movies, other instruments and other props can also be seen in the museum, that is very large and extensive, and consists of several themed rooms. Audio guides tells the story of each room. The museum was founded in 1990. Each year the museum has about 300 000 visitors.

MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL:
Albert Dock, Pier Head, The Beatles, Liverpool FC

Museum of Liverpool opened in 2011, replacing, the old Museum of Liverpool Life. This futuristic, curvy building, designed by the Danish architect bureau 3XN, is situated right next to the water on Pier Head in Albert Dock. There is a significant, circular staircase in the atrium, that resembles New York's Guggenheim Museum. Inside the museum you find the Beatles , football team clothes from Liverpool FC, a model of Albert Dock, architectural models (one big of the dismissed proposal for Metropolitan Cathedral), horse carriages, a Ford Anglia, a train wagon, ships, rooms, furniture, toys and other items with connection to the city of Liverpool and the rest of the UK nation. It has more then 6000 objects on 8000 square meters. There is a large panoramic photo in one the rooms, that shows the similarities with Liverpool's and Shanghai's waterfront skylines!

The building also features viewing windows towards Albert Dock, Pier Head and the Three Graces.

UNIVERSITY AREA, CITY CENTRE EAST:
- Hatters hostel, Mt Pleasant, Victoria Museum Building, Hanover St, Ranelagh St, Central Station, Epstein Theatre

At Hanover St, that changes name to Ranelagh St near Lime St, you find the Liverpool Central Station (a smaller but more modern railway station then Lime St Station), the Epstein Theatre and a very popular pub area, with charming historical buildings. Renshaw St is another busy street, where you find Grand Central, a former methodist church in an art nouveau building that is now filled with alternative shops! At Bold St you find St Luke's Church (currently under renovation), as well as many nightclubs and restaurants.
In the University area, on the East end of the city centre, you find the campus that belongs to the University of Liverpool. Most significant is the Victoria Building, a red brick Grade II listed building from 1891 with a clock tower. Here you find the Victoria Gallery & Museum, an art museum with free admission. There are many ultramodern buildings with striking designs in the university area as well. The John Lennon Art and Design Building is one of them.

We stayed at the simple Hatters Hostel, a cheap hostel at Mt Pleasant, a hilly street centrally situated near Lime St Station. Breakfast was okay, the atmosphere quite nice, we met some friendly people there, but it was worn and unfortunately our sleep was disturbed by Polish football holigans!

LIVERPOOL BY NIGHT:

- Radio City Tower, Lime St Station, Wood Street, Concert Square, Bold St, Clayton Square

Many of Liverpool's buildings are nicely illuminated after dark, like St George's Hall, Lime St Station and Radio City Tower. The clock of the classic Royal Liver Bldg in Albert Dock can be seen all over the city. The buildings albong Albert Dock and the waterside are illuminated at night.
Liverpool has a vibrant nighlife, especially pubs. Concert Square is the center for the most vibrant spot for pubs and nightlife in Liverpoo, the surrounding buildings are illuminatedl. In the area around Concert Square, in the East part of the city centre, you find the pub filled Wood St, Fleet St and Bold St as well as the more busy Ranelagh St and Hanover St. Swan Inn, Revolution and Krazy House are some of the rock bars at Wood St.
At Matthew St, Harrington St and Button St, also in the East part of the city centre, there is a whole neighbourhood with pubs, bars and stores dedicated to the Beatles. The Cavern, the legendary Beatles pub, is situated here.
