Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Malmesbury Abbey had, when completed, a 131 metres tall tower, which was at completion in 1180 the tallest church tower in the United Kingdom.
This tower collapsed in a storm around 1500 and destroyed many parts of the church. Further damages occured, when around 1550 the western tower of the church collapsed.
The destroyed sections, including the towers, were not rebuilt. The remaining part of the church is still in use.
