I think you might be correct Lorendoc. The street layout/intersection matches up....especially the curve.

I wonder where that model of city hall ended up?

C'mon people. Does nobody GET this?
That building has always looked like one to me.
... and I don't think it's an accident regardless of how practical and utilitarian.

Oh yes but Brent Dickerson (BCD) tends to hang out at Pueblo Plaza having a slightly earlier than noir L.A. history period focus.

The building on the right later became "Giorgio's of Beverly Hills", known to television viewers in the 1960s and 70s as supplying the wardrobe for numerous network series.

"The store used a signature yellow and white striped awning, which came to symbolize a Beverly Hills lifestyle."

I hated this store.

When I first moved to L.A. in the 1980s, I visited the store with some friends. As you walked through the front door a machine overhead squirted you with a copious amount of their sickly sweet perfume. After you were drenched in that sh*t, everyone in the store proceeded to give so much attitude that you couldn't wait to flee.

"Piggyback Yard, 1962."

It's likely that this is on the site of the SP's Los Angeles General Shops, between the LA River and I-5 It may still be in use as an intermodal terminal despite the opening of the Alameda Corridor. Out of view behind the shed would be the east-west mainline that crosses the river [oos left] to get to LA Union Passenger Terminal
And the white building in the background may be the old LA Jail
Other old names of the area include Lamar Street Roundhouse and Alhambra Avenue RH and Pasadena Junction. San ANtonio WInery is/was just across the tracks north, and west. The big brick former brewery is out of frame right, other side of the mainline

You transit scholars will know what this is, but to a novice like myself I have no idea what-so-ever. I've never seen anything quite like it.

ebay

It looks like the middle section is missing. Did something fit in there? -Help me out here boys.

Another view in the LA Ry materials yard in Vernon.
Nothing missing except a load of things needed to repair track.
A look at the cabs will reveal the notches at the bottom- so that a long rail or pole could be carried on each side. A very nice view- thanks

Another view. The caption says:

"Los Angeles Railway maintenance car no. 9203 stops momentarily on its maintenance run. Note the two flatcars in tow carrying replacement rail."

Here's another impressive transit photograph(no location given). -note the"Repossessed Furniture" store, and of course Basta's Italian American Market on the right.

ebay

I located Basta's in the 1960 street directory.

Here's pretty much the same view today.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe we've seen an exterior view of 335 N. La Brea when it was the Pirate's Den.
Can we rectify that mateys?

No exterior photo, but here's some items from the place posted on the Errol Flynn blog.

Very nice Martin_Pal! I believe the "Council of Pirate Chiefs" are investors in the club.

below: I could use some help figuring out the location of this photo. (I don't think we've seen it on NLA; I found it several nights ago on ebay)

Hey, thanks for the information on maintenance car #9203 Ed_Workman & HossC. I appreciate the help.
