^ indeed. threads like these exist for discussion about all aspects of highrise development taking place in a given city. politcal rants should most defintiely be taken elsewhere.

Hi from Toronto! Pretty mild weather you guys are having up here. This is my 6th time here in the last 5 months, but I have to say I'm blown away every time by the amount of construction going on in the GTA.

And thought you guys might enjoy these shots, taken tonight.

I really like the four seasons design.

They are also in the process of trying to develop a hotel in Calgary's Eau Claire district. I hope it turns out anywhere as good as this.

Some updates....

Sapphire got canned by the city - 88 story tower proposal.

Sales at Trump seem sluggish. However they may still have shovel in ground before the end of summer or fall.

Sales at Ritz Carlton are going extremely well. This one may well start by the end of summer or early fall. I believe they have a higer sales % count than Trump, even though they started sales almost a year later than Trump.

People like the Ritz.

Four Seasons sales to start???? - This will be a fast seller based on whats happening with Ritz. I think its aiming at the same market.

Maple Leaf Square tower one basically sold out.

Tower 2 to be released this week or next. - Construction on this project looks like it will happen around the end of fall.

Sales of the X condo will start shortly.

Tallest tower under construction in Toronto right now is ROCP - Rescidences of College Park. I think its 52 floors and 505ft tall.

Second tallest under construction is likely West One at around 49 stories and 490 -498ft tall.

A few towers in the 40-49 story range are going up right now. I believe.

Spire
Met
West One
ROCP
Minto Mintown
Montage
N1

Should have some nice pictures for spring.

that's no big loss is it? i mean, sure it was tall, but was there anyone who seriously thought that cylinder with the ball on top would have been a positive addition to the toronto skyline. that sort of kitsch may play in other places, but toronto's skyline has an established and dignified look to it that wouldn't work with the kind of tackiness seen in that saphire tower design.

^ Yeh, I am kind of worried about it because sales are not going as fast as I had hoped.

My feeling is that Trump doesn't have the callibre he might have in the U.S here in Canada. Also you have to keep in mind that the upscale luxury market is not large by any means, and now Trump is going head to head with Ritz. Also Trump made the decision to raise prices which I think was a bad idea.

The tower will sell ultimately and begin consturction this year, but the developers are the ones to blame for the slow pace. Ritz Carlton doesn't seem to be having any problems finding buyers.

Final note: Sapphire will still be close to 700 ft. so it will still be fairly tall.

Id have to agree with this, it would add some variety to the Toronto skyline but at the cost of tackiness...not worth it IMO

MY first post on SSP yaaay

I have a question...why is the Toronto diagram so...out of date or incomplete?

^Welcome to the forum.

I was never a fan of Sapphire either. It looks like a building Dubai would have rejected.

Hey Neilioo, welcome.

As far as I know, the Toronto Diagram / Database is pretty up-to-date. Aside from the chisel-shapped Sapphire design and some missing diagrams for proposed buildings. What else do you mean?
