For those who don't live here

A quick illustration of why some oppose the towers.

These shots are from 321 N Clark looking west down the river, the big white building is River Bend.

^ Harry's photos

Thanks for posting, Harry. I've tried, less successfully, to make this extemely simple point before - that a single photo can decisively communicate what this lawsuit - in its entirety - is actually about, despite everthing that the plantiffs and their very small group of co-conspirators and supporters have represented - and continue to, here in the complaint.

This 'case' is something of a quick sanity/integrity check of American jurisprudence. Will this frivelous, deceptive, misrepresentative suit be rightly, quickly and completely not only tossed from the courts - but laughed out on its way, or will our legal system do anything else - something that would potentially - even likely - result in a downgrading of its highly respected standing in the world and its legal community?

Yesterday was the last day for the river bend view protection myopia brigade to comment on the city's dismissal of their tantrum/suit.

http://www.marinacityonline.com/news/wolf0715.htm

Anyone hear anything about an official dismissal?

By dismissing the suit the city is impeding on my view rights of delicious drama! We as a free nation should not stand for this.

^As a free nation people have a right to complain. . . whether they have a right to stop someone else from building within municipal guidelines on their own property is what's wrong. . . the system seems to be working fine. . . nothing more to see here. . . move along. . .

Great news! A building permit for caissons was issued yesterday for the first Wolf Point Tower! 507 units and 200 parking spaces

This calls for a banana dance!

*banana dance reserved. Yes-motion head will suffice.*

no, dancing bananas are exclusively reserved for when the caisson drill tastes its first dirt.

permit issuance is still a good sign though!

Ummmmmm, no; the current design is . None of this is good until we can replace Cesar Pelli with either Renzo or Jeanne Gang. Full stop.

^ Phase 1 is bKL, not Pelli.

the designs for phases 2 and 3 are place holders for now and will surely go through further refinement should they ever proceed.

TIDBIT:

A birdie told me that we could see the breaking of ground on the Wolf Point West Tower within the next 4-8 weeks.

The former chief electrical engineer at the Merchandise Mart, who was there for 30 years, told me they already poured the caissons for the new WP towers when they re-did the parking lot several years back. Seems unusual and unlikely, but this would really speed construction along, at least for the west tower. Does anyone recall seeing drilling unrelated to the ramps, etc?

^ Can't imagine that's the case. Would have been documented and discussed here for certain, and also it would have been highlighted in some way during the approval process by the development/design team....

Don't listen to old people they always base their "facts" on hearsay.... Trust me no caissons exist!
