hkskyline's 2016 in Bangkok

Bangkok is only a short flight away, so a long weekend trip is perfectly do-able. The morning sun is already quite intense and hot, so I went above ground to sightsee on the Skytrain. The trains are well climatized and there is some wind on the platforms.

The area around the Grand Palace has walkable pedestrian paths, lots of street food, and unshaded areas to work on a tan.

Interesting city, hope to go there soon! Though I understand it must be overwhelming with som much to see and so intense heat, lucky there is the skytrain. But it won't take you to all sites like Grand palace from what I understand, is there an underground metro as well?

The Grand Palace isn't near any metro/Skytrain line. But to beat the heat and avoid road traffic, just grab a river boat from Saphan Taksin Skytrain station.

Nice photos! Thanks for sharing! Did you try any mango sticky rice?

I just got back from there myself. Great city. Amazing, cheap food. However, I found the traffic to be horrifically congested, and their public transit system to be woefully underdeveloped. I did not take the BTS or the MRT simply because it didn't go anywhere I was I actually trying to get to.

Yes but at a nice restaurant and not on the street. Street food is a bit too risky for me in the hot and humid weather!
