Memphis International Airport: The Land of the "Three Holers!"
Sweet jebus this is an airport that offers spotters and photographers a healthy dose of wetdreamisms! Well, that is if you like the old McDonnell Douglas aircrafts and some Airbus' mixed in as well. I went to my neighbor to my southwest over the weekend and snapped a crap load of pictures. That, thanks in large part to the permission I had granted to me by both FedEx and KMEM Airport Operations/Police, proved to be a very valuable day for me. I got FedEx's first EVER Boeing 757 sitting on the ramp all by it's lonesome. It is the first of many that will come online in 2008 for the freight company as they try to replace their aging 727-200's. I got a bunch of pictures, but the majority can be seen in their fullness on my website for KMEM linked here: www.pbase.com/lexyky/memphis_airport. here is a sample of what I got so enjoy!

The first Boeing 757 to enter service for FedEx is just about ready for revenue service.
Does FedEx still run any props out of there? 10 or so years ago, I seem to recall a number of those. I'm only guessing that they were used for smaller markets like Tupelo, Greenville, Monroe, Jackson TN, and so on.
If not there anymore, it could be because FedEx bought out that Pittsburgh trucking company and renamed it FedEx Ground. So I guess a lot of that stuff is now trucked in.

Yeah they fly some ATR's into what thy call "Feeder City" which is there at KMEM.
Nice, but next time lets see more NWA since this thread was FedEx heavy.
Well, they don't fly anything into MEM that you can't see anywhere else in the US. DC-9's , A319-320's, and an occasional 757. With a huge emphasis on CRJ's there, what else is there to take a picture of. I focused on the FedEx stuff because we don't see all those types in Nashville unless it's an emergency.
