Winter keeps it's grip on Minneapolis

A view of Minneapolis from the airport

Who needs a car?

Straight to downtown

Every city has its questionnable architecture

My hotel

Results of the Federal employee diversity program

What is that blue stuff in the background?

More Twin Cities diversity

Spring is making a valiant effort

Yes, again! I can't get enough of these two...

Our trees have already shed their flowers and are in full bloom.

Love this old train station

I admit it...I had to stop at Target

High rise living in downtown MPLS

Ooof

Too bad the awning of the train station houses a parking lot!

Let's head to the river

See, America has ruins!

Beautiful city...one of my new favorites!

See also my Saint Paul thread here.

Well it was 75 and sunny this morning, and then some rain moved in. I wouldn't exactly call that winter... but yes, the trees and flowers are at least 2 weeks behind normal. I always love how people look at weather from one day and assume its always like that

PS I just finally loaded all the pics....they are not from today! way to be misleading. lol. The trees are blooming now, and there is definately no snow! The last snow I saw was a dusting around 3 weeks ago, that must be when these pics are from.

PPS good pics! This has to be one of the best Minneapolis threads ever! You have really shown a lot of buildings and street shots that aren't often seen.

I think I mentioned in my Saint Paul thread when I was in the Twin Cities, but I guess I forgot in this one. I was there April 25-28 so these pics are from then. It pretty much snowed off and on everyday, though, as you can see there wasn't much accumulation, in the cities anyway. My cousin and her friends were all complaining about the late snow storms this year. But, she also was kind enough to point out that it had been in the 60s-70s not two or three days before I came out!! Good thing I like stormy weather!!

Excellent!!
The river is one of the coolest places in Minneapolis, with all the old advertisements - Gold Medal Flour, North Star Blankets, Grain Belt Beer. The stone arch bridge is a neat place to hang out.

Don't know if I've seen a more comprehensive Minny walking tour. Nice job. I really like the 'ruins' photos too.

Great photos! They just kept getting better as it got darker out. I really like this city, and seeing as it is the closest major American city to me I've been able to spend a lot of time in it. Also I'm glad to see it isn't just us Canadians who've had the nice weather delayed.

Too be fair the train station is only half a parking lot. The other half is an enclosed year round ice rink (yea go figure?). I've had dreams for years to find the money to enclose the other half and make it into a 24 hour Minneputput golf course specializing in local landmarks. Being just up the road from the Guthrie and down the road from the new library and already a part of the ice rink and the water park that is adjacent to the train shed with the hotels I think it would make for a wonderful addition. Well maybe not 24 hour.
