Everybody Knows Pittsburgh

I recently spent about 36 hours in Pittsburgh and had a chance to wander around the city a bit. Coming from Texas, it is one of the most interesting places I have been. Some parts seem young and new but other areas felt like they hadn't changed in 30 years. It also seemed to contradict normal assumptions since outside of the downtown areas, the homes on the steep hills with the amazing views were run down or abandoned and the nicer areas were further away from the rivers. It was crazy to see so much great real estate that nobody seems to want! Overall, a great place that is one of the most scenic and complicated cities in the US.

I love this place. Those random AC units sticking out of windows are a nice touch.

Yep. Stayed in West Mifflin and had a chance to get acquainted with McKeesport and Homestead. So I saw the southeast part of the city. I poked around southside and a bit of Oakland too. It will be a while before I get back though since I only get up there every 3-4 years.

Thanks for the comments!

One of America's most unique cities. Pittsburgh gives off a very old vibe, there's hardly a modern building in view! These pictures might as well be straight out of the 1970's or 80's. Very homey.

Pittsburgh looks American. It looks like the place they had in mind on Mister Roger's Neighborhood, which is probably true since the show was produced there.

It's like a tall, urban downtown surrounded by dozens of small towns and cities can be seen all over PA. Nice set, thanks.

Pittsburgh has plenty of modern buildings. There is a very nice mix downtown and throughout the city of modern buildings that have pushed the LEED envelope and pushed the latest building technology even if they are not in this thread. The Greenest Skyscraper (for now) is being built in downtown Pittsburgh.

Nice photoset Reverb

Nice pics. Great shot of North Oakland at the end! Fun fact: That is the densest populated neighborhood in the Pittsburgh metro. It's got about 30,000 residents in less than a square mile.

This thread really shows off Pittsburgh's bodacious topography.
