Hopefully we'll start to see noticeable progress with the tower portion.

No pictures, but the crane was raised and really stands out now.

There was a new FAA filing this week showing the building's height as 440'. I'm guessing this filing is for a change in height from their original FAA filing since it's so late in the game.

You can really see the tilt of the main building from this angle

That pillar looks like it was put up back when they had two guys working on the site, and one of them called in sick that day.

70 Rainey will look something like this from i-35, along with the Independent.

The master, h2h is back!! I was wondering what the approach from the south would look like with 70 Rainey. Now I know. As always, nice job, and thanks. Its going to look great. But now the Holiday Inn looks really dated and grungy.

Thank you the Genral! I always wondered how much better that view would be without the Holiday Inn as well.

Yeah, great job on that. I think this building will be a decent "face" to the skyline from that view, but of course, I wish they had kept the original design. I mean, wow, 472 feet and the design was pretty unique. This one didn't stray too far from it, but I'm wishing they'd done more to conceal the mechanical penthouse up there.

I agree on the Holiday Inn, though, I don't actually mind the design, and the round tower is a genuine unique piece of retro-architecture. I just don't like that "1975-doctor's-office-waiting-room-yellow" color they picked.

I just noticed the Indie in that picture. That area most definitely will benefit from the extra height. Its just as important that they dial it up a few notches when lighting the crown at night.

Didn't they paint in some 10 years ago with red highlights? When did they repaint?

I wonder what that view would look like with the North Shore Lofts-or-whatever-the-name-is-now-building going just south of Holiday Inn. My biggest complaint for the Holiday Inn is the parking garage...which, as I recall, won't change much after the other building comes up with a massive parking garage of their own.

Thank you, I think this building nicely fills in the massive gap between the Fairmont and everything to the left of it as seen from i35. Yeah the biggest thing I don't like about Holiday Inn is that it blocks a big chunk of the skyline as people drive in from out of town.

Also, what's the height of the Marriott that is going in next to the Convention Center (next to the proposed/future expansion)? I wonder how that will compare to 70 Rainey and the Four Seasons Residences tower. It should fit right in between the two.
