That's a hard one to answer. There are a few different vibes in DTLA. South Park is up and coming and is totally different from let's say 6th and Spring. I encourage you to take time out and explore. I walk around DTLA daily just to get my cardio instead of the treadmill at Equinox. I personally am not. Fan of how the separation at Olympic feels. Just a personal thing, but it's not that major.

Nice pics Hunter. I agree, the last tower at Metropolis looks very very good.

Prahaboheme, I think 8th street has been / will be evolving into a great neighborhood street. Its narrow, will have no parking lots in a few years (2 left from the 110 freeway to Los Angeles Street), has decent landscaping and a good mix of old and new buildings. We will also have a very good variety of stores, restaurants, bars, hotels and residential on it.

I also think the area between 8th, Pico, Main and Hope will be very interesting in the very near future with the new residential and hotels opening up.

I, personally, love walking down 7th street from the Wilshire Grand site Eastward. A lot of great restaurants/bars/nightlife along that street.

Now that E on Grand has revealed its facade, the only 7 story on Pico we haven't seen yet is Onyx across the street. That development has a phase two across Hope St. I don't know why they haven't broken ground on phase 2 yet. It makes me wonder, are they just waiting to start phase 2 until phase 1 is done, or has phase 2 been canceled?

Halal Guys restaurant spotted today doing renovation work at the old Brigade store on 7th (near Olive). That storefront did not take long to fill in!

There was lots going on there today with that conversion. Seems like they have lots of manpower. Semi-related the new chipotle on hill/Olympic looked very far along. They have a sign up announcing a permit request for alcohol sales. I didn't realize they even sold alcohol.

Exquisite, absolutely exquisite. Fitting tributes to fine classic architecture.

@KingKill'em
I've been telling you on the FB development group that Jade is the SLOWEST moving developer in LA. Topaz and Onyx are progressing at a SNAILS PACE. SMH...

In my humble opinion somewhere like Atelier is ideally located for current downtown and 1050 or Mack Urban for 2-3 years from now.

I tend to like more of downtown south of 7th because it's farther from skid row. South Park is going to be very residential and amenity rich. Also quiet when you get away from LA Live. That's where I like.

Yeah Topaz broke ground in 2014. With the two 7 stories they announced last April, those won't be done until 2022 at their rate.

Yeah the blocks around Atelier are a good mix of old and new.

Wow, what a beast! Wonder how accurate the rendering is considering the TCW building is 517ft. That would make it ~900ft?

Good article on the role of Chinese money towards increasing the supply and lowering the prices of rental units in downtown:

I <3 Chinese money.

I like it a lot. The podium is unfortunate, but not an abomination like it is with Circa. The number of parking spaces is somewhat reasonable given the specs.

Height-wise, I'd venture to guess around 750-800 feet max.
