The vacation I dreamed of for what seemed like an eternity started off rough. Obsessed with genealogy, I've longed to desired to see the place from which my great-grandparents were born. A very late flight; a lost hotel reservation; an extreme amount of sleep deprivation from
partying with a bunch of Brazilians in London the night before (totally worth it, by the way); hell, the whole island was covered in a nasty, windy storm upon my arrival. But... Here I was. Recently applying for Italian citizenship, this trip was not only about learning more of my roots, but also to learn the culture and language of a country I could be calling home later this year. First cultural lesson: Gotta get some food!
