^ If you're wanting a bigger pic of the building at level 80 , then there is no need because many of the pics used in the latest level 80 news floating on the net lately, are older than Imre's latest pics
----->
One article actually had the thing stretched to over 350m.

BTW, the Burj Dubai commercial is back up and running:

Emaar unveils Attareen at The Old Town Island in Downtown Burj Dubai
Wednesday, November 1, 2006

Emaar Properties has launched the second phase of The Old Town Island – the Attareen - in Downtown Burj Dubai. With over 50 per cent of construction work already completed, the 88 exclusive apartments feature Arabian architectural styles in a modern setting. Emaar has joined hands with Amlak Finance, the largest publicly listed Islamic finance company and pioneer in home finance in the UAE, to offer easy finance options to potential buyers.

A low-rise development, The Old Town Island has four quarters – Al Bahar, Tajer, Attareen and The Palace Hotel, Old Town. The launch of Attareen follows the sell-out success of Tajer, the first phase. Thirty-five units at Tajer were sold in just two weeks during Ramadan following its showcase at the Ramadan tent at The Old Town sales centre.

“Attareen Residences integrates residences and boutique offices within a landscaped environment featuring gardens and pools,” said Bahiya Kayed, Assistant Director of Sales, Emaar Properties. “With only 88 apartments, Attareen is ideal for potential home-owners who seek an exclusive retreat within Downtown Burj Dubai.” To be ready for hand-over in summer 2007, the 7-level Attareen quarter is pedestrian-friendly and will have a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments apart from 8,000 sq metres of boutique offices and 500 parking bays. Each unit has a distinctive layout, thus providing home-owners with individualized style choices.

The residences offer some of the best views of Burj Dubai, billed to be the tallest tower in the world when completed in 2008. Proximity to The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest mall, and the Burj Dubai Business Hub add to the development’s convenience factor. Also close by is The Palace Hotel, Old Town.

“We extend finance of up to 96 per cent of the property value for tenors of up to 25 years for UAE residents,” said Khalid Zainal, Head of Sales & Distribution, Amlak Finance. “Investors and home-owners can now own a home at The Old Town Island, one of the prestigious projects in Downtown Burj Dubai, for only 4 per cent of the value followed by easy monthly installments.”

He added: “Home owners will find it as an attractive option because the installments are competitive compared to the rents they would pay for living in similar environments. Also, the high rate of returns makes the project an attractive investment option.”

The apartments range in size from 831 – 2,891 sq ft and prices are from AED 1.35 million for a one-bedroom to AED 4.9 million for a three-bedroom apartment.

The Old Town Island offers the goodness of village-like living in the heart of a vibrant urban environment. The waterfront project is characterized by market squares, meandering alleyways and inner courtyards. It brings in the mystique of traditional boulevards with stalls, boutiques and coffee houses serving guests during day and lantern-lit streets exuding dignified charm by night. Souk Al Bahar is the retail and entertainment centre offering an array of leisure and shopping choices for residents. When completed, The Old Town Island, with a development value of AED 1.3 billion, will have 405 apartments, 161 hotel rooms, 83 suites, 2,100 parking bays, 15 restaurants and cafes, 89 shops, 130,000 sq ft of boutique spaces and four pools. Overall, the project will feature 1,250 sq m of water features, 18,600 sq m of landscaping and 83,000 sq m of parking.

Potential home-owners can discover the unique living experience by visiting The Old Town sales center at Downtown Burj Dubai featuring true-to-type show homes. They can also call toll-free number 800-EMAAR for more information.

The AED 73 billion Downtown Burj Dubai is Emaar’s flagship project and will be a mixed-use 500-acre community combining commercial, residential, hotel, entertainment, shopping and leisure outlets in open green spaces dotted with lakes and other water features. Other components include The Old Town, Burj Views, Burj Dubai Boulevard, The Residences, The Lofts and Loft Towers, 8 Boulevard Walk, South Ridge, Burj Views and Burj Dubai Lake Hotel and Serviced Apartments.

^ Emaar's official level 80 pic with their height measured at 277m / 3.4625 average?

I think they are being conservative with that number, but it's not far off from Besix' 4.884 average.

Nothing published yet where it's 3.6 or higher (3.8 on ssc)

Something I don't get:

It says 500,000m^2 of floor space in this titan, 300,000 of which is in the tower itsself. WTF? So how can the tower have 500,000 if it only has 300,000? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Also with an observation deck at around 450m it'll definitely get an ass-whooping from the burj al alam skydeck which is at the same height but has a way better view (seeing the creek extension with loads of stunners like dancing towers, etc as opposed to a roof of a giant mall), and also is outdoor (there's both an indoor and outdoor portion, on different floors).

I noticed that too, but I think it's going to have to fall under the category of "Wait until the book comes out" list.

My list is starting to get rather long.

That multistorey Plazza extension on one of the wings will contain office space. It was mention on several articles about BD.

Still that will not be big enough for 200,000 so maybe they mean 500,000 sq-m in the Complex, which includes the Business Hub.

I'm sure you meant Besix' 3.4884 average

Strange, if 277m = 3.4625 @ L80, then the observation deck now quoted to be @ 442m which is originally shown as on L142; by that figure would now drop to L127.....which would put it on top of the 11th setback instead of the 12th.
Is this a hint by EMAAR as from where the design has been changed because so far it's pretty spot on!
I know there's some larger floors to come (another 3@3.8m and 3@4.2m) between the supposedly 142nd floor observation deck so should be at around about the 493.8m mark. A 51.2m difference is a big margin for being conservative. Are we to believe these official figures or has the design change been more drastic than they're letting on?

^Thanks. Yeah, I guess I need to type a little slower.

With two pieces of evidence (official), numbers that are close together, a mass press release on the 31st from the MAIN player (Emaar), it just can't be dismissed as speculation or flat out refusing to believe the players in the game, but to rely soley on photographs (no matter how hard they try).

I can see that Emaar/Besix may "doctor" the number a little, but not by a huge margin. It would not look good for a global company to deceive the public (through press releases) for the entire construction process.

They already are going have a little asterisk next to this tower because of the worker riots (even though it wasn't on the structure itself). It reared it's ugly head at the level 80 press release, so it's not going to go away soon.

It doesn't need another one.

The 300 meter press release will be the next big event for the tower and that event is something they cannot lie about...at least lie by a huge margin.

When they pass T101 (or SWFC ), CN Tower, etc., they can't throw huge parties knowing that it had already passed the mark weeks ago.

Brazilians offer products for the world's tallest building
11/02/2006

On Wednesday (01), construction industry businessmen from the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina who are participating in a mission to the Emirates visited the construction site of Burj Dubai, a tower that is under construction and should be the world's tallest. The businessmen left their contacts with the enterprise's representatives.

Dubai - Brazilian companies participating in a mission of Santa Catarina state construction industry enterprises to the Arab Gulf are willing to supply furniture, stones and ornamental plants for the Downtown Dubai mega-project, in the United Arab Emirates. The project is going to feature a tower planned to be the tallest in the world. The construction is already under way, and was visited yesterday (01) by the Brazilian businessmen.

"We have scheduled a meeting with representatives of the project for them to visit our booth at Index," claimed Rafael Molon, who is in charge of the international relations department of the Brazilian High-End Furniture Manufacturers Association (Abimad), which will be exhibiting at the emirates' furnishing trade show, scheduled to begin next week.

The project, scheduled for conclusion in 2009, is a gathering of residential and commercial buildings, shopping malls and restaurants. The enthusiasm regarding the dimensions of the project and the opportunity to become a supplier has also attracted the interest of businesswoman Ingelore Eipper, who works for H.J. Eipper, a company of ornamental plants for decoration, and represents Montserrat, a manufacturer of wooden furniture, pavement and mouldings.

"I know Dubai buys plants from all around the world. But I believe I stand a chance of supplying them too," said Ingelore, who has exported to Dubai before.

Downtown Dubai is one of Arab Gulf's most eagerly awaited projects, because it is going to harbour Burj Dubai, a tower aimed at being the world's tallest, as well as Dubai Mall, also set to be the largest in the world. The mall is going to house 2,000 stores and 200 restaurants and bars. The project belongs to the Emmar building and real estate company, which leads the Arab market.

Some 80 residential and commercial towers are going to be built in a total area of 2.5 million square metres. According to Jason Barrack, special projects manager of a company hired by Emaar, the new city is going to have a housing capacity of 50,000 people. US$ 10 billion has been invested in the project.

According to Barrack, the construction employs 25,000 workers, 4,000 of which are engineers. "There have been times when the construction had 45,000 workers," he said. The average price for a 120-square-metre apartment is US$ 2 million, and most have already been sold.

This shot is amazing...

What a skyline.

I used to think this building would be ugly and weird. That was according to the renderings and drawings. It looks good in real life though. Wow.

This city is going to be amazing. Just imagine driving on those brand new, state of the art highways, with an INCREDABLE skyline around you. Dubai is the future.
