Organizing a transit "amazing race"

Hi all.

Typically this is not what is discussed on here, but as there are alot of people familiar with the Skytrain, and the transit system in metro vancouver..I would ask for your help.

Basically, I'm looking for as many 'notable' and 'unique' places within 500 metres of a skytrain station/b-line bus stop. The teams will be restricted to only use the SeaBus, Skytrain, and B-Line bus routes, so any notable places that would be one in a kind and difficult to duplicate would be appreciated.

Teams will likely take a photo of their team in front of the clue..it'll be pretty easy to figure out, as most people won't be overly familiar with vancouver/burnaby/new west/surrey, but some more complicated and mysterious might warrant some bonus points.

so if you can list some great unique places, and list what station they are near..that would be appreciated. I have a list that's starting, but the more places and options I can get, the better.

Thanks!

Lougheed town centre/north road has a lot of Korean businesses - maybe you could make em search for a sign in korean on one of the stores... or a korean delicacy from one of the places

thanks.

remember..I dont' want people getting lost on the bus system..sticking to seabus, skytrain and b-line is all I want covered, so the giant flagpole in surrey would be a no no.

Gastown steam clock, Chinatown, Granville island, Koerner Library, Vancouver Library, Lonsdale Quay Market.
There is also the 97 b-line, but i'm not too familiar with that one. I'm just pointing it out because nothing has been mentioned along that route yet.

If you head down to the public library downtown, go up to the 4th or 5th level, there is a section in travel and tourism that has many local books. There is a book there that has historic walks along the SkyTrain line. It may be of some assistance.

thanks for the heads up..

what i think I will be having is three separate spots at skytrain stations..and then a few spots at SFU and UBC.

5 points for getting a picture of your team of something really easy (close and visible to the station)
10 points for something medium difficult
15 points for something quite challenging and difficult.

Will be doing some research with a friend in the upcoming week or two, but any ideas will be good.

I know Surrey pretty well, it's just new west, burnaby/etc that I have difficulties with

UBC has a lot of potential spots. I'd suggest the echo circle or the engineering cairn.

Where is that exactly (you don't see many moving sidewalks in Vancouver).

moving sidewalks = flat escalators?

If so, I could point out a few locations around the region that have them (Metrotown, Safeway on Robson and Denman, WalMart @ Guildford Mall). In fact, I'd never actually seen one before I moved here.
