Tennington City-Sketchup

As you already know I made another thread, so I thought I would try a city.

A year ago I created a city called Tennington City.It had way too many mistakes and was badly planned. So I thought I would make a secong edition of Tennington. The old Tennington has a population of 2.1 million. The NEW Tennington now has a population in the 800,000's.

Few renders will be made.

I'll add textures a little bit later. The textures will be from CGtextures and Amazingtextures.

More details will be added on the buildings((lots/some!!!)

I'm thinking of placing Tennington in the Long Island Coast.I think the downtown will be placed on a peninsula.(not sure though.Any more ideas to put this is apperciated)

Here are a few shots.

Comments/Critics/ideas Needed

(I'll also turn off edges in later shots )

flip your buildings faces so they are white. Otherwise you won't be able to do renders in the future.

It reminds me of my first city. Keep going looks like a good start.

Heh, reminds me a lot of the kinds of cities I used to make when I first started out here.

No comments for the last update.

Maybe a little more comments after this update:

Outline of the Peninsula is about finished.

So far a little Skyline has developed.

I'll do some imformation on the buildings.

Well I'm thinking of putting my city on a fictional island BUT this will be on a peninsula on the island.I need some names though.

Make sense?

.

still waiting for a rendered shot to see how it looks.

plus I feel maybe some more space between the buildings and the
roof tops could do with some details

I like the overall building designs and layout, but the scale of the buildings are a little off from one to another. I also suggest doing one block at a time and then paste it into the grid; it helps in preventing lag. Add some green to the cityscape too, it looks like you made a shoreline; it’ll make great for a park.

Keep it up!

^^

Thanks! I'll consider that for the upcoming buildings and the exsited buildings.

So should the smaller building be taller or should the taller building be smaller for it to be even???

Here are the possible names for the tallest buildings:

1.Conwell Enterprises or Conwell World Headquarters

2.Cartier INC

3.ReinCorp Enterprises

Any more ideas????

I'm adding more green to the city as well as well as some other things.

My Next update will be the history about some of the buildings.

ok first you need to scale your textures so the buildings appear to be in the same scale. Then you should look at how your buildings touch the ground. Right now they all are just pull straight down. Try to add some detail there.

Also you don't have to ask for comments and ideas after every post, the point of a thread is to post comments and ideas.

I get the textures thing but could you please tell me what you mean about the buildings touching the ground? I don't really get that.

Your designs for the most part are well thought out and executed, but as others are saying you should try and bring them all in alignment in terms of scale. Also, try to add some more detail at the base of these buildings (perhaps add bigger bases for trading floors, atriums, public space, retail, etc). Focus on quality of buildings and not initial quantity.

Noob question but when i change the texture size to 11.00 meters(across) and 8.54 meters (up) it just doesn't look like the same scale to the tallest building. Am I doing it right to m ake it the same scale????
