Test Render.....

Here is a random shot of the city........ You likee??

Here is the Tennington New Courthouse. It is in Olde Town and was built in 1881. It was also the first skyscraper in Tennington. It is also used as a small Dining Area.

The building right next to the New Courthouse was the Old Courthouse. It was in 1874.I'll give more info about that later.

Another pic of the New Courthouse:

And yes I know the textures are out of scale. I'll change that as soon as I can.......

I posted a render I get no comments? It seems like everyone ignores my threads.

Anyway a small update....
lol Like I said before major Details will be made to the olde town...

Oh and for the trees they are different height because the Mayor thought it would look better in small trees.

A pic at the old Courthouse....

Future for Tennington:

Major Tuneup for olde town and d

Minor details on downtown

Better textures

More sidewalks

More Photoshopped pics

SCALED TEXTURES!!!!!!!!

Districts:
Shopping District

Port

Park(Very Big)

A good waterfront

Civic Center

Central Wilson Residence
And more to think of.....

Hope ya like!

Sorry for fourth post in a row.....

As you allready realised yourself you have a lot of work to do but your city definitly has some potential.

first you should try to get the building dimensions more realistically an those textures need more work.

you might try to finish a building first in detail and textures and then place it in your city not just one that semes like a placeholder volume with random textures on it

.

Maybe continue with this city but start a little side
project where you do individual buildings and really
consider size ,dimensions and textures etc.

Yeah I'm thinking of going back to ind. projects that will conisder me to be better at textures. I really suck at textures!!!!! ANY tips on textures????

Also should Tennington be on hold for a month or should I still keep Tennington and not do any stops at all?

For me, the porblem is the textures but not the buildings......

I REALLY need comments on this guys. And bad.

Ok, after a couple of hours/days I decided that I'm going to redo Olde Town.

So like Staunton I'm calling this NEW Olde Town:

Olde Town 2.0

This is what the new Olde Town will have:

Wider streets

Scaled buildings(lol yes scaled)

Scaled Trees

Better textures

Wider Sidewalks

Next Update will be next week or so....

I really like what you've done so far, especially the renders.

Looking forward to what you'll come up with.

Wow 50 posts so far with three pages. But most of the posts are mine.

The Olde Town of Tennington is coming along very well with lots more detail, trees, larger sidewalks and large roads. The Olde Town consists of Residence, offices and city government buildings. The Olde Town should be done is 1/2 weeks or so and then I'll move on to Wilson Resdince Park City District.(Res.) Now for some pics.

Random shot of the Olde Town:

New block of the Olde Town:

Hmm looks like a empty Restraunt:

Su7re! But do you mean city outline or a skyline shot? I'll do both.

Nice variance in the building styles and sizes - it makes the city more interesting for viewers to look at. The Olde Town is very refreshing addition.

You asked about scaling textures. Here's one way to do it:
- First, decide the floor to floor height of your building (always model to scale). 4 meters or 13 - 14 feet would be quite realistic.
- Then count the number of floors your texture has. Let's say it shows 10 floors for example. This makes the texture 40 meters / 130 - 140 feet high.
- Open the Materials window and select the texture you want to scale.
- Go to the Edit tab. There's text boxes for the height and width of the texture (just under texture's file name).
- Type 40 in the height box. The width should change accordingly.
- Now you have scaled you're texture, you just have to position it correctly.

I see you've also tried Kerkythea. Try the preset #17 (Path tracing progressive). It's the best preset for outdoor scenes lit only by sun and sky. It takes a bit longer, but after 50 - 150 passes your textures should look really clear.

Wow thanks for the tips!

Update with Scaling textures. Most of the Major Buildings are to scale.

I'm guessing that at this point you've got about 2,500-3,000 residents living in high-rise condos/apartments, and a commercial district that supports about twice that number of workers. It seems to me that you should either build more apartment buildings (~20-stories-or-so structures) before you expand the financial district further, or consider adding an inbound interstate/ferry terminal. In any case, happy building!

Yeah you definetly need lots more housing, resi blocks etc. I know their boring, but it'll help ground your commercial heart once you have suburbs around it. From what i can see your textures appear much better in relation to scale

Yeah, After I'm finished my Olde Town(wih scaled textures) I'm moving on with a District called Wilson Residence Park City District. The name could change though.
