Jackson Mansion

Bleh! Here comes another project I'll never finish! Well, for now I wanna start a thread so I don't take over the General one.

So this is the Jackson Mansion.

It's a 4 story house which includes the original design of the current building on site, original ornaments and so on.

It'll include...

-4 bed (1 is guest)
-4-5 bathrooms
-indoor pool/hot tub
-2 large decks, one wraps around
-an indoor garden
-2 atriums, each 2 stories tall
-gym
-elevator/emergency stairs
-3 car garage
-2 panic rooms
-library
-2 offices

and some other stuffs. i'll update this post as I update.

Here's what I have so far...

please let me know if something can be changed! do those black beams look thick enough? there's a 30x10' core with 9" walls in there as well.

Only you would build a house taking into account panic rooms
But its looking brilliant thus far, really interested in seeing more.

i've been working on my house! the original layout keeps changing and i can't make up my mind at times. here's a render of the atrium. i added a basement level and decided to remove one of the panic rooms (one was gonna be in the basement, the other in the 3rd floor).

here's some of the biggest changes
-moved support columns further from core
-added a basement level which will have a HUGE glass window looking into the pool
-finished the 3rd and 4th floors (just plain white, no doors, no windows)

i'm working on...
-a woof roof structure that will cover the atrium lights. it'll have track lighting from end-to-end which will create a 'sun path' type of deal.
-a living wall on that empty back wall
-basement level layout and stuff

yay? or nay?

it's not turning out the way i wanted it to. it doesn't have that 'flow' i wanted so i might just get rid of it. i don't wanna leave it plain. or do i?

should i just add 'factory styled' hanging lights or should i add something more 'sky' like? i just don't wanna make it cheesy ya know. and although just plain lights might look better i also wanna experiment a little, but not overboard.

More nay It looks to much like a giant flattened dead whale...

You could do some more of those black beams and put skylights in between. I think that industrial look would fit quiet well.

yeah my plan all along was to add skylights but because there's 2 stories above i'm having a hard time figuring out how to reflect light into the holes.

i'm using vray and when i add 'reflection' all it does is make the 'tunnels' look dark instead of reflecting light downwards. i've added an angled part on top but it still doesn't reflect light down.

Maybe best to simulate the daylight coming down by putting an omni in, if it dosen't work properly. I kinda agree with Tolbert - roof does look a bit whale-like. You could just design some feature lighting to go on the ceiling instead.

yeah the plan was to have lighting in that spine part, but i wanted something along the lines of a 'bird' wave rather than... that.

anyways, i'm putting omni lights in and it looks better, just gotta cheat i guess.
