Phase One:

The 400,000 square foot Class A+ office building will benefit from easy ingress and egress from Highway 59 and close proximity to Interstates 610, 45 and the Westpark Tollway. The hotel and apartments will be joined by a high-end resort styled amenity deck to which both hotel guests and apartment residents will have exclusive access. My god, Houston just won't cut it out. At the rate they're going, I feel like the stretch of the core city from Downtown to Uptown/Galleria could evolve into an east-west version of Downtown-to-Midtown in Manhattan...or even a twinned version of Downtown-to-Century City/Westside in L.A.

For some reason, I thought the early reports for the planned hotel was in the neighborhood of 20-22 stories, but I can't find the original Chronicle article. Surprised even their blog posts on this project didn't link to the article that was initially written.

I don't think Downtown to Uptown will fill in during my lifetime, even at the current frenetic pace, but the city is looking more and more like Chicago with each new panorama.

Here's some more information on the project, including an initial 20+ floor count I haven't seen yet for the phase 2 resi/hotel tower. For those that don't understand why they are keeping the trees they have information on that(including how freaking huge they are). Also they will most likely be used, at least admired, by the restaurant and hotel guests, as well as the office and apartment tenants who will also get to benefit from the green space. Houston may quickly becoming more urban, but that doesn't mean it has to be a complete concrete jungle.

Photos can be deceiving, though. Based on what I'm seeing on Google Earth, it's only about 3 miles to downtown from this construction.

This is a close-in building. It's a long way out to the Energy Corridor.
