I've never worked with high-rise residential, but it seems that a building of that height will need many intermediate mechanical rooms on other floors, given the distances that utilities need to travel, and especially given the limited floor plate at the top of the building.

Edit, if you go back and look at the section on page 36 (which may be old) it appears that the top two floors may be mechanical and the there is an additional mechanical level at the top of each tower.

Officially if I remember correctly the CTBUH measures the height of a building based on it's lowest above ground pedestrian entry. So 1,151 is correct. Besides measuring from upper wacker is the worst starting reference point for the height of this building when from LSE park the building is 57' taller

Hello, 2nd post on the forum. Really appreciate the info on Wolf Pointe. Going through these threads is like drinking from a fire hose. My two questions:

1. Probability of this getting built and height?

2. If gets built, when do they want to start and is the image on the left side what it will look like or has it changed?

Thank you so much. On another note, took family downtown to Maggie Daley Park which is amazing! We took a cab to navy pier for the kids and I walked back and walked right by the big spire hole. Cant believe how it is just there still empty, pardon the pun, but such a hole!

^ I think there's a pretty high probability it will be built. It's being back by one of the wealthiest companies in China, and IIRC they've already build (or are in the process of building) a salesroom for the condos. I don't remember what what design is most recent or when they want to start (I think they wanted to have it completed in 2018).

Chances of this getting built are I would say very high. Magellan has a great track record in terms of getting things built and it sounds like the funding is already in place and sales have begun.

They want to start building next year. The most recent renders are on the studio gang website here

The only downside to this project is its proximity and near plateau effect with Aon.

Indeed. So that we can move on to a plateau of greater height! It's not much of a reason, so really, I don't see much downside to its addition in the skyline.

As long as the blue "plateau" is better than the red, I can't and won't complain a bit

You know, it's funny that you would refer to the red area being underdeveloped. I hazard a guess that about 1-1.5 million people live in that area you've circled.

No, the red area is underdeveloped. With the tree canopy you can't see the number of vacant lots. And there aren't as many people in this area as you've stated. This is just a part of the west side with no north or south.

Most of the area circled in red is Oak Park and River Forest (from about Madison St to North Ave). There's a little bit of Austin as well. Probably only about 40-60k people living in that area.
