Pretty much. And this project is in Delco by a matter of feet. Not bad for the area all considered - I grew up there.

When GM left its Newport plant in Delaware for good over a decade ago, gone went what were for generations solid, high-paying blue collar jobs. At its height, the plant employed over 5,000 people - in the gigantic, 3.8 mil sq. ft facility.
Well -- there have been lots of plans, and failures to replace the shuttered GM plant, but it looks like the State has finally found a suitor.

I saw that article elsewhere. It's good news, but warehousing jobs don't pay as much as manufacturing jobs.

I hope that a subset of the facilities moving into this zone are at least explicitly tied to the port and that there remains the potential for something more skilled, like pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Interesting. There is kind of a side of me that hoped they would just make this a wildlife area since there is already so much vacant retail and we definitely don't need more. If they absolutely have to build something here, then I would personally think a town center would be cool (like this one I went to in Myrtle Beach that is like a mini town. I forget the name).

This is being proposed in Royersford adjacent to the old train station:





The borough also just recieved a $1m grant to rehabilitate the tressle bridge shown in these pics to connect this development to the Schuylkill River trail. This is right next to downtown, which has recently seen some nice new retail and redevelopment on main street. With Royersford being near high growth areas such as Phoenixville and Collegeville, I could see this happening in some form or another.

Yeah, this is a great project. You can see it under construction from the Schuylkill next to that apartment building that was built 2-3 years ago.

I did post about this hotel in this thread before, but it was a while ago at this point.

These plans are great, and will go a long way to transform the area. I've long dreamed of the City Avenue corridor being more built up, and lined with dense, urban developments, a la the Wilshire Boulevard corridor in LA.

City Avenue should at least be dense and urban from the Schuylkill expressway to St. Joe's campus.

University of Delaware plans $38M fintech building as it looks 'to drive innovation'

Been lurking for a little bit and really like this forum. I wanted to share a couple pictures of some of the development happening in Ardmore.

This picture is from over the summer of One Ardmore Place. I think it looks a little 'cheaper' in person compared to the renderings, but definitely an improvement on the surface lot that was there.



This picture is from last week of the progress being made across the street from One Ardmore on the new Cricket Flats building.



Also, I don't have a recent picture but the new building at Suburban Square - Station Row - has really come along. I think it's supposed to be open in the next few weeks. Filling in that whole block that was a surface lot is a major improvement. You can see some of the progress thanks to Google Maps:

Thanks for the updates! Love seeing the suburbs surrounding Philly with train lines/public transit continue to densify. That one new building in Suburban Square really makes that entire stretch of Coulter Ave feel so much more urban, it's crazy. I drove up the street the other day and was impressed by the feel this new building brings.

Yup, but unlike the Navy Yard, the STAR campus has a SEPTA stop right next to it. I really hope one day, Delaware and Maryland are able to figure out how to connect the Newark stop with the last MARC stop north of Baltimore at Perryville. This possibility has a lot of momentum now.

Bala Cynwyd Multifamily Complex

Kinsley was awarded its third building project with developer Federal Realty Investment Trust (FRIT). The 87-unit residential project will be constructed in an existing parking lot of the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center.

The six-story, 117,000-sq-ft building will include a one-story parking garage and five stories devoted to residential living, including 14 studio, 29 two-bedroom and 44 one-bedroom units. Construction will start at the end of October and finish by March 2020.
