Another tall glass box for Rainey. The whole Rainey skyline is going to end up looking like a giant 550ft rectangle from afar.

Except for the fact that there will be ~6 towers around 600' to 1,000'.

Oof, that south elevation. Good thing it'll be blocked by another tower directly to the south. Crazy how dense the I-35 frontage road has ended up becoming.

I've started referring to that section as the Great Wall of Austin or mini Kowloon...

I know that that south face is going to end up being a plain concrete or stucco eyesore, but if they did something decorative it might end up being the most interesting part of the building, given how bland and predictable the other sides are.

Here's the site plan. It's a re-submittal of the Lady Bird Hotel site plan.

There's a reason for it. The south face will be right up against River Street Residences. It likely won't be very visible, if at all.

48-story condo tower planned for Austin's Rainey Street district

https://www.statesman.com/story/busi...t/65371843007/

An Austin-based developer plans to start construction next year on a 48-story residential tower in the Rainey Street district on downtown Austin’s southeast side. The proposed high-rise would add to the ongoing building boom in the Rainey Street area, and in downtown in general.

Pearlstone Partners plans to build the tower on two adjacent tracts that span from 62 East Ave. to 64 East Ave. Although plans are still preliminary, Pearlstone executives say they envision a tower with 48 stories and 245 condominium units, although those numbers “could all very much change as we move through the design process,” said Chris Zaiontz, a Pearlstone senior vice president and principal.

The project still needs to wind its way through the city of Austin’s development review process. Zaiontz said Pearlstone will be required to go through the city’s downtown density bonus program in order to achieve additional height and square footage for the project.

Under the current timetable, the building could break ground in late 2023, with a targeted completion date in 2026.

This project may have gotten taller. A Design Intake was filed today for a 53-story tower. The last elevations show 48-stories plus two mechanical levels.

Nice! Let's keep getting those 50 story towers there.
Vesper will start to look significant in that part of the skyline soon too. Go Austin go

I saw Vesper yesterday from the northbound lanes of Mopac south of 360. Hanover Republic Square looks good out there by the way. That white color really makes it pop on the skyline with all the blue towers we have.

Hot damn. Rainey is going to be the densest part of downtown in 3-4 years.

Wow, a 600 footer directly on top of the 35 frontage road. Won't notice the hotels as much now. That's going to look insane as you cross the river.
