IMO the tribeca buildings aren't by any stretch ugly (thankfully they don't resemble at all the beige/teal Claridge Plaze I-IV). Sure they're not luxury but they add residential density in an area that can easily accommodate it and desperately needed more life. I'd point out these slimmer towers contrast well with the gratuitously mammoth bulk of Place Bell across the street.

I don't take issue at all with the fact that the Tribeca buildings bring much-needed residential density to the downtown core. In fact, I'm glad for that.
I'm also glad to have something contrast Place Bell's hulking mass, though I think some additional height would have gone a long way to help -- likely not Claridge's fault though...
What I do take issue with is the general look and feel of cheapness. The exterior cladding is a terrible colour and looks incredibly cheap! Sorta reminds me of the Andaz. Both Claridge projects, both ugly as hell.
Now we run the risk of having another similar building right across the street from Tribeca. Great.
