How come every time I see a picture with the Millennium Gate Monument it looks photoshopped? Does anyone else feel this way?

Perhaps it's because it looks so much better than its surroundings. Like a hot girl among the other Georgia Tech engineers.

Look at this photo Joey and tell I am not going crazy. Twelve AS is what?...28-30 stories? Now look at the Millennium Gate Monument. It looks half the size of 12 AS.

Would everyone please stop engaging in hate speech toward the Arch?! It deserves a chance to prove itself just like any other monument.

In my opinion, people will be singing a different tune once they crank up the John Phillip Sousa music and you see a 500 man parade go marching by. There are going to be beauty queens, VIPs, police motorcycles, bagpipers, Uncle Sam, honor guards and many of the other things that make America great.

Yeah!!!

Yeah!!!

Hell, just send them THROUGH the Arch and we'll have a World War II reenactment as well!

Andrea, I really have no problem with the MGM. However, it bugs the hell out of me they are flying the French Flag.

ROFL LOL oh that was too good!!!

Don't forget the grand opening for the Arch D'Ikea is the same as the start of the Atlanta Gay Pride weekend!!! This should be fabulous fun for Hetro's and Homo's alike!

Oh snap! I may have to get a room for the day and night at 12 AS. If sh!t is going to go down, I want front seats.

I posted these over in the City Compilations thread but in case you missed them.

Photos that I shot Monday afternoon of the Gate.
Enjoy!

Not so bad from this angle.

The rooftop shack.

The inscription and archway.

Aside from the perspective trick, mastered with zeal by photographers in the 19th century, I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Georgia Tech in the top 10% on looks buddy. We won most attractive male and female competitions. In any case, who wants to join me in dismantling the shack on top? I figure enough torches and pitch forks and they'll get the idea.

Right, b/c, on average, Georgia Tech she-engineers are on par (in terms of ratio and attractiveness) with girls from UGA, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Miami, Chapel Hill, USC, College of Charleston, and UVA. Gimme a break. I went to GaTech.

Re: the "shack" -- I actually don't mind it. The arch looks vaguely Roman to me with the rooftop house. I agree, though, that a patinaed copper look would have been attractive.

I haven't actually read much about the museum at the arch. From the proposals each little floor in each leg was suppose to have a display, then there's supposed to be exhibition space underneath. I wonder if any of that will be ready for the opening?
