richard meier & partners designs first project in colombia

‘vitrvm’, the first project in colombia by richard meier & partners features two 13-story high buildings that are to host residences in bogotá. buffered by a ravine, the angular shape of the structure is a defining addition to the skyline. the ‘vitrvm’ complex, with a total of 36 apartments, is placed by the septima avenue with views to the city and nestled near property belonging to one of colombia’s largest seminaries, ‘seminario mayor’. the landscape of the site includes the greenery from both the surrounding mountains as well as the prominent chico park.

The Central African State of Ruanda, commonly known as the “land of a thousand hills”, is rarely the focus of West European interests. On a private initiative, on the road in Nyanza connecting the country’s most important towns Kigali und Butare, a new IT Center has been built. While the initial order was to design a new roof over a forecourt, after first discussions the idea was born to build a training center with lighthouse character, with a future-oriented curriculum and training options.

AD61 \ Yuri Zagori

AD61 is a unique and exclusive development in the area of New Polanco. This area has been transformed from an industrial zone into one of the most desirable and solicited neighborhoods in Mexico City. Over the last decade it has grown exponentially, developing around Carso, one of the biggest development projects in the city.

The development AD61 is composed of 2 rectangular towers that take advantage of the sites layout. The project has 128 units with different square footages and layouts, distributed among the two towers. The complex accounts also with a swimming pool, mix use room, gymnasium among others.

The origins of the Museum of the History of the Polish Jews go back to the mid- 1990s, when the founding director of Tel Aviv’s Diaspora Museum and the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, Yeshayahu Weinberg, convened an international working group to plan a new museum dedicated to the history of the Polish Jews. Some 150 researchers from different countries in Europe, Israel and North America participated in gathering the material on the history and lives of the Jewish people. By the year 2003, the fundamental idea and preliminary exhibition plan for the museum had been completed.

The site for the new Oeconomicum on the campus of the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf is located between the existing library and medical school and the university’s lake. The new building takes its form from the curve of the lake shore and with the surrounding buildings it defines a new square. The building can easily be extended. The 3-storey structure is raised on stilts, connecting it to the upper level of the university mall.
