The Japanese flag is simple yet effective, I can't say the same for Claridge's designs. Though, the Icon's initial proposed design was really nice, but, in typical Claridge form, it was a classic bait and switch.

maybe in the sense that Imperial Japan's pre-WWII flag was so much cooler? (the current one is still good, FTR)

At least Japan gets to own the red circle which no other country has. You should've said "as creative as the designers for the flags of Monaco, Poland and Indonesia."

Claridge needs a new tagline. Something along the lines of :

'Claridge : 27 Floors of Bait & Switch'

It's not the red circle part that's unique.

Well, unlike Monaco and Indonesia, at least the Polish flag has an eagle on it.

Just their state flag, their regular flag is just two stripes. (Austria and Germany also put eagles on state flags).

Czech almost had the same flag too but they added a blue triangle to distinguish.

There has to be two towers going up. The site seems too big for just one.

Do you have any shots of the re on Sparks Street?

To late for that... The table has been rock solid for about 4 decades already. Any kind of height in dt Ottawa will come in the soon to be developed Le Breton.
