I was down there about 3 weeks ago and thought the federal building makeover looks awesome! Really a great upgrade - there are more than a few buildings here in Seattle that I'd love to see follow suit.

We are also getting a new Sellwood bridge replacement (Sellwood is a neighborhood of Portland ~4 miles SE of downtown Portland, on the eastside of the river.

Should probably also mention that Park Avenue West, originally started in 2008 and mothballed since 2009, has been restarted and is inching upwards. It will be 501' when completed.

Thanks for these! I have got to get down there and get some progress shots and maybe discover some things. Is that publicly accessible view in the last picture?

‘Beam me up, Scotty!' says OHSU president after seeing new building
The $295 million, 500,000-square-foot building is a joint venture between OHSU, Portland State University and Oregon State University.
By STEVEN DUBOIS
Associated Press
http://www.djc.com/news/co/12067172.html

PORTLAND — The largest academic building in Oregon opened Thursday with Dr. Joe Robertson, the president of Oregon Health & Science University, telling the assembled crowd to look above at the gleaming, modern structure and out toward the new car-free, cable-stayed bridge crossing the Willamette River.

The 12-story north tower and five-story south wing are connected by a glass atrium. The space is designed to encourage students to mingle and train together, with suspended walkways and a student lounge overlooking the river.

Developers Secure Financing to Build Portland Residential High-Rise

Quote:
Guardian Real Estate Services and Key Development Corporation have secured $71.75 million in construction financing for the development of Block 67, a 21-story, 284-unit, Class A apartment high-rise in Portland’s Central Eastside district. Financing for the project was structured by HFF through a senior construction loan and mezzanine financing.

Designed by Skylab Architecture, Block 67 is located at the intersection of NE 3rd Avenue and Burnside Street, just steps away from the Burnside Bridge. Due for completion in early 2016, the property will feature 16 levels of residential apartments above approximately 24,700 square feet of retail/commercial space and parking on the first five floors.

Community amenities will include a 9,300-square-foot eco-roof and podium level that is planned to feature fire pits, barbecue area, pet exercise area, fitness center and spa. Apartment finishes will be high-quality with many units offering unrivaled views of the Portland skyline.

Block 67 is part of the Portland Development Commission’s Burnside Bridgehead Redevelopment Area. The PDC carefully created a Framework Plan for the area, and in July 2010 issued a request for proposals from developers in a competitive process from which Key Development was ultimately selected to be the PDC’s preferred developer for the B67 site.

Very nice-looking building and even better that it will be on the east side of the river.

Need to resurrect this Portland thread....

There was some cool stuff going on when I was there May 1st. Here are just a few pics of projects I don't know the names for. The one with the windmills is done - but so beautiful (send the architect to LA?) I had to post.
