An interesting thing I find about this neighborhood is that it actually seems very unamerican, and way more Canadian in urban form. It's unusual in US cities for there to be clusters of apartment high rises well away from the downtown core, intermixed with single family homes. Essentially this area reminds me a lot of Mississauga high rises meets a Chicago streetcar suburb meets Vancouver's West End.

I'm guessing that the a good many of the high rises around Cheesman Park were built in the 60's/70's, as I doubt whether or not the Nimby's today would have approved of them bordering that Park.
I lived around Cheesman, way back in the Spring/Summer of 1972 and there were high rises around that area even then. And I'd be surprised if they're approving construction of more of them, in this day and age, around that area, but I could be wrong!
