Slug, keep on doing these posts... I find this very interesting how it passes previous World's tallests. Awesome stats!!!! It also shows the Burj's growth with time as #14 was 1908, it'll be neat.

What is #13?

It won't be long

BTW, digging through old bookmarks and found this from over a year ago. Mike Murry's portfolio with an animated day and night BD he made in architectural animation course:

surprised it's still around. Macromedia Flash required.

Current level as of w/e Jul 9, 2006:
53 @ 188.884m from official Besix doc. posted (3.4884 average):

not 206.5 (3.896) or 210m as reported elsewhere. I thought it was over 190m already, but I guess not.

Anyway, pics taken a couple weeks ago around level 51:

-June 01 2006-

"More of it (construction) than I could ever fit into my viewfinder at one time."-M.O.Pride

"From the outside, it doesn't seem spectacular at first. Well, by Dubai standards, at any rate.

As you get closer to the center to the site entrance, you see more of it.

And then you see it:

As you enter the complex, the true magnitude of what is going on begins to become evident.

Huge, unfinished chunks of concrete protrude from the ground.

And then there are the cranes.

Oh the many, many cranes.

But there's more to it than that.

There's also construction.

More of it than I could ever fit into my viewfinder at one time.

Tower after tower reaches for the sky.

Some look like they might almost get there.

Our own version of Minas Morgul, of course, has the loftiest ambitions of any building in the complex"

slugbelch I have to say this thread is fantastic, way better than the SSC ones where you have to go through mountains of crap to find what you want

Also strange, there's no apartments on the 21st floor, that's the hotel

That's because they're not open yet to the public (I think), the area around is a complete mess at the moment.

Is it the Burj Dubai's 2nd birthday?

Some say piling/foundation is the birth of the skyscraper, if so, then this is around the time it all began:
