Another update at Facebook. I noticed that all of the property is fenced off except the row of buildings between Myrtle and Broad--the old Emerald City Club and attorneys office. Does anyone know if they are being spared and if so why?

I hope they don't save the buildings. It's going to look ugly if they're not torn down next to JUMP. Can't Simplot just pay the lawyer, and the other attendant to move? although I do not believe it's be that simple.

About the trees on the JUMP site. Many of those are Tree-of-Heaven and they are arbora non grata.

See: http://www.nps.gov/plants/alien/fact/aial1.htm

^ I was going to say something along those same lines, but simply put "weed trees" for their invasive nature. You could see them in Sawtooth's pictures where all the trunks were clumped together, and not purposefully planted.

every night i drive by the JUMP lot and the whole foods site.

it will be fun watching the construction of those sites over the next year or two.

i also noticed that the fencing didn't go around the emerald club, but i thought the only building that wasn't being razed was the law office on the corner.

That is what I understood too. In the updated renderings, the parking structure appears to extend to the corner of Myrtle and 9th, so maybe they are going to demolish those other buildings later after the first warehouse is taken down. Or, maybe they are going to save them and spruce them up and incorporate them into the project?

Sorry I deleted my photos a few weeks ago. I had to shift around some Photobucket folders and the links became broken.

Here they are again and pre white wrapping on the fence

can't wait to see some visible work on that lot.

i've heard they're doing some internal work on the warehouse to prep for demolition, but the tear-down should happen soon. maybe then we'll see some heavy machinery moving dirt around.

anyone drive by donna larsen park recently? last time i did, there was site work being done, but didn't look like any construction had started.

doesn't look like much activity from the heavy machinery on the site just yet.

i'm assuming they're still busy cleaning out the warehouse.

I heard a rumor.............
that the existing buildings between Broad and Myrtle, the old Emerald Club and attorney office will remain for street presence and be renovated and incorporated into the project, which would explain why they are not fenced off for the time being. This is just a rumor, but I kind of like the idea because those old buildings do add nice density on 9th. Time will tell.

Didn't they volunteer the buildings to be gutted by fire for training of Boise Firefighters? Doesn't seem like that would be a wise move even if they planned on renovating...

When the firefighters were at the warehouse for a while they told me there wasn't going to be a controlled burn, but they may have only been talking about the warehouse.

No fire, and not all of the buildings either, just that warehouse on Front and 9th. The other buildings were not part of their training from what I remember.
