Now that some locals taught me how to appreciate early and mid-century modernism, I find these are of a fair standard like those of our 13th arrondissement.
You know why the local French don't like it, then why it's been called "commieblocks" over the En-speaking world? Because it's sort of lazy, though. Extremely conformist, all looking the same on behalf of equality between all individuals.
Indeed, it's much easier to never be jealous, angry, hateful or wrongly aggressive when everyone looks the very same, even when it actually would be right to be upset.
But again, that's just lazy and stupidly ideological in a wrong way. People have a better heart than this when they're brave.
So this is some weak conformist design, overall. Upgrading them to contemporary insulating standards is a huge, miraculous opportunity to enhance them, to bring diversity, peculiar looks and an actual character to each façade, as proven over here whenever they'll show some will to actually improve the ghettos they cynically built on purpose to stultify the people they administrate and maintain the pitiful little privileges of their old-fashioned neighborhoods supposed to be beautiful.
Be sure those towers could actually grow pricey, and dwellers better off.
