This would really anchor Downtown, with the tallest set a few blocks in from the waterfront. Can't say the design is anything too special, which is obviously typical of Miami condo towers, but it seems to echo some of the design elements the Four Seasons, 1450 Brickell, and complements Centrust well... so it looks to be better than most.

Those trees would be dead in less than a year. Architects really need to stop adding these rooftop trees to renderings.

Project: 545 Wyn

Quote:
Chicago developer Sterling Bay is proposing to build an office building in Wynwood.

The proposal calls for a 10-story structure with 209,050 square feet of leasable office space, with 10-foot ceiling heights. There will also be 28,436 square feet of leasable retail on the ground floor.

A 459 space parking garage will be treated as an artistic canvas. There will also be a ground floor retail paseo, and an indoor/outdoor amenity deck.

Gensler is the architect.

The proposal is scheduled to be heard by the Urban Development Review Board on April 18.

Hopefully he succeeds to get some extra height out of future projects...

Tibor Hollo Hires Lobbyist To Change Height Restrictions

Quote:
Tibor Hollo has hired a lobbyist over height restrictions in Miami-Dade.

Rosario Kennedy, a former Miami commissioner, registered with the county as a lobbyist on April 11, records show.

Kennedy represents Hollo, the registration states. The matter represented is listed as “Amend Building Height Restriction within the HSA (Heightstructure Set-aside District) as per Section 33-347,” a reference to the county’s building code regulating height limits.

According to Kennedy’s website, she has worked on projects including One Biscayne Plaza and Villa Magna.

Also on April 11, commissioners approved a first reading of a rule that could allow exceptions to the county’s height limitations, although only in limited areas near the airport.

I doubt it. And neither is Pittsburgh.

Though downtown Pittsburgh is much more of a "mini-Manhattan" than downtown Miami is... in terms of layout/setting, density, function, age, architecture, transit, commerce, etc...

Miami is Miami. A great place in its own right. Miami will never be New York nor Chicago, and it certainly isn't developing in the manner to reach those comparisons anyways. Miami is NOTHING like either of those cities.

Miami (the 3rd largest skyline in the U.S.) is turning into a mini tropical Manhattan!

It's just annoying and sounds like something someone who has never been to Manahattan would say. It only reinforces the stereotype that people in Miami are stupid and only obsessed with status... having to compare themselves to bigger cities as some sort of affirmation of worth.
