Latrobe, PA and a little plus.

Latrobe is a small city about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh.
The golfer Arnold Palmer and Fred Rogers (from Mr. Roger's neighborhood fame) are from Latrobe.
The regional airport is named after Palmer. The city has a bit over 8,000 folks, down from
nearly 12,000 in 1960. It has several closed factories (mostly steel/metal related)
but still has a brewery which orinally brewed Rolling Rock (though now puts out Sam Adams among
other brews).
The town doesn't look as depressed as many other rust belt cities,
though it appears rather gray and empty in these pics (taken on a Sunday afternoon).
Anyway here are some pics from a brief tour.

Interesting..."from the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe, as a tribute to your good taste".

Nice. Latrobe is one of those small cities that has always intrigued me but I never made it down there when I was in Central/Western NY.

What's the story with Mozart Hall? I dig that thing.

It's got that random West Virginia city vibe going on. I dig.

All I could find out about the place is that it was built in 1890, most recently had a restaurant for a while and also was a music venue.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Nice tour. I also liked that Mozart Building--they definitely don't build them like that anymore!

Did you see the brewery? Is it in town?

That mill you posted in the first part is sick. Ive been inside it a few times to urbex the shit out of it. Its pretty epic inside. And that Catholic Church is awesome. I randomly saw that while driving and was amazed such an impressive structure would be all by itself like that.

Awesome city! One of my favorite satellite cities in the Pittsburgh metro. That Mozart Hall is SCREAMING for a renovation.

Thanks for the comments fellas. I did see the Brewery, and had taken a pic of the Rolling Rock sign during a previous visit, but I can't find the darn thing.

I wish I could transport Mozart Hall to Houston and plop it down on the vacant lot facing Market Square. SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I seriously want to marry that thing. Legalize architectural marriage!
