I actually like this design. I like it better than the other two. I'm referring to the Tower #2 of course. Maybe because it's a little more pragmatic.

Even if this is built exactly as designed up to that juncture of the photoshopping, no way in hell is someone like LNF is gonna leave us with a flat roof.

There's financial and engineering pragmatism...and then there's the task of ordering a starchitect to observe the dreaded KISS principle.

If he could reshape the diamond motif such as it gives the impression of a modestly ascending curve pointing to the 1WTC spire....and put a well-designed 150' spire on that, that would be fantastic.

I'll be honest, I always wanted another replica of 1 WTC to go in the spot. Just to make it the Twins again or somewhat close. But it is what it is.

I'm excited that at least things are somewhat moving in the right direction. Just have to be super patient with this one.

I'm exhausted of flat top skyscrapers in place of what should be iconic skyline changing peaks. But, I also despise the BIG design and think it has no place in NYC stylistically. I would be disappointed with yet another missed opportunity for a great peak of the tower, considering the diamond top it once had, but I'll also be relieved if this means we dodge the BIG bullet. either way I just want the site to wrap up already, would be nice to have some finality in an area that has been a constant construction zone for nearly 2 decades.

Well if you know what it's going to look like, why not share your knowledge?

That is one of the most disappointing designs ever for this tower. I agree about a copy of WTC1 to repeat the twin tower element. That would leave me emotionally content with what has happened with rebuilding this site but damn. A tower 2 that doesn't even reach 1000 feet is super disappointing. Hopefully it never gets approved even though we are approaching 20 years post 9-11 and anything might be better than nothing. This leaves most of us hoping that 80 South gets approved at 1,438 feet to dominate the skyline instead of anything at the WTC site.

That picture is merely a random photoshop from a forum user.

There has been absolutely no indication of a height reduction or what the design might be.

Respectfully, I don't think anyone here was either suggesting or harboring any misgivings in that regard.

Both designs, if I haven't clarified it before, I truly believe are still on the table. I would think that Larry would be in negotiations with a potential anchor tenant who would ask for the sort of space that the tower's footprint emcompasses.

Larry's not gonna pick a candidate that'll ultimately force a third design option.
Time is more than money here...a lot more. This is, if you will, bucket list-level priority.

Exactly. The foundation for Foster’s tower exists. A lot of gymnastics was required for BIG’s design to utilize that. They’re not going to now design yet another tower for an existing foundation.

I'm going to start thinking about future prospects on 5WTC (former Deutsche Bank Building) now, lol
The site is still missing some elements--original design was suppose entail a "climbing stairs approach as well as something of a nest containing the scope of humanity as well as cultural center"
And to see no progress in 2WTC places maintains a nasty dent---would be a moment of celebration when construction resumes and this building reaches tall regardless of tenant. As long as it reaches at least original specified height, its all good.

Too bad 1 WTC has such an ugly antenna.
The whole roof structure is just terrible.

I've always thought that since 1wtc was such a let down, why not make 200 Greenwich even taller? Make it a megatall and truly capture the title of greatest skyscraper in North America. I would think that that would add a certain prestige to the site and enable greater rent demands.

I actually think that Foster's tower just as it is, will complete the complex nicely. Foster's tower is such a magnificent design, that if it is not the ultimate building that will become 2 WTC, I sure hope the design gets built somewhere else in NYC. I like it that much!

Temporary Plaza to be built on the site. I hate seeing this one getting delayed constantly and I don't know if the WTC site will be fully complete by even 2026.

That won't affect construction. It remains to be seen what DB will do.
